amazing dev team they are and i cant wait to see whatever they are working on especially a new motorstorm title. there have never been a game up to the standards of the motorstorm games within the offroad genre.

Not for me. I hate MS. Its too arcadey and lacks any kind of depth. I know many people enjoy that but i played all three and by the third race in each i was bored.
They are good devs though. Would like to see them try something a bit more... substantiated.

I played the other two on my lunch breaks at work when I worked for Game. They pretty much followed the same formula to me.
Which was, be presented with a race.. do the race. If you win, you do another race. If you lose, do the race again until you win. For me personally I don't like that formula. I like there to be a bit more to do in between. I guess that's why I was such a huge fan of Test Drive Unlimited (the first one) and Forza Horizon.
Motorstorm does that arcadey thing quite well but I think video games have moved on a bit and that series felt like it belonged to a previous era. Ironic considering the name of the developer! I just want a bit more from a racing game.
Motorstorm actually has an absurd amount of depth, considering you only played 3 races in each it's easy to understand why you'd have missed out on that. Whilst it is 'arcadey' it incorporates a lot of realistic factors with varied terrain and the deformation of it.
On motorstorm just driving a couple feet to the left or right can cut seconds off your time. The optimising your racing line in Motorstorm games is extremely technical. Arguably much more so than games like Forza Horizon and Test Drive (the two games you brought up).
That said I'd prefer a new IP to a new Motorstorm. I agree with you that between races it's shallow. It's a shame you can't build your machines akin to Pure (quad bike racing game) or something like that, it'd make the game a lot more fun. The handling model is also a bit too on the realistic side for my taste. I would have preferred faster acceleration and the ability to drift etc.
PS4 reveal possibly new game from evolution studios, who by the way also hired bunch of devs who previously worked on PGR,Blur among other racing games so this new game could be something quite big
could you imagine for just one second sony showing the following 5 games on February and in the end saying see you at E3 because this was only a preview for what to come

Well the day they announce the PS3, they showed many games, few tech demos and specifications of the PS3!
I will guess this time will be no different, but I bet they will hide some technical specifications but show games and how cool the PS4 features are, their apps, Gaika and blah blah..
They will minimum show 15 games even if they are just short clips teasers, we know unreal next gen engine is big for the industry and it will be there.
The idea alone that theyre trying and will succeed at something thought to be overly ambitious gets me excited for their new game.
Motorstorm came with my PS3 when I bought it about a year after the PS3s release. It was the first game I got to play in HD with outstanding graphics, it was fun and fast like a Burnout game in the dirt and I loved.
Anything they come up with will be great, MS4 or new IP.
Motorstorm kicked off the PS3 really nicely. I remember how stunning that game looked at that time. Nice to know this company PROBABLY will kick off another launch title with the PS4.
Man can't wait... i hope for the motostorm demo that was in E3 05 to be (real) time this time.. Honestly can't wait to see what are they working on. 10 days to go!!!

Im hoping its not Motorstorm for PS4, but only because I want GT6 as a launch window game and Sony wont release two first party racing games at launch.
Fair comment, but Ridge Racer...sorry, RIIIIIIIDDGGEEEE RAAAAACCEEEERRR, isnt a first party title and Sony tends to avoid sending first party titles into release windows at the same time unless they're different genres.
Go back to the original roots of Motorstorm and make it off roading. Even better, make it exactly like that infamous e3 tech demo and you got yourself a major launch title. All I need is this and a new PGR for my Xbox and I'm in arcade racing heaven.
you might want to check up on the pacific rift servers being up. i swear i read on here a little less than a year ago the PR servers where coming down. not sure if its been axed yet. as MS:A is a fairly recent title expect the servers to be up for quite a while longer

Glad to see Evolution Studios still going strong after Motorstorm: Apocalypse wich sadly due to release dates sold poorly compared to Pacific Rift and the Original launch Motorstorm game.
Did you ever try the multiplayer on MotorStorm? The multiplayer on the first 2 MotorStorm's was a blast, though Apocalypse was a bit of a let down in all honesty.
Reading your post it appears that you are talking about the single player part of the game?, which is most definitely the weakest portion of the game, and yes needs to be improved for sure.
I really enjoy the off-road setting of the game and it would be a shame to see it ditched in favor of another street/road racer.
Motorstorm Apocalypse 2 please - or something that's essentially that if you rename it. I know that not all Motorstorm fans like it but it's a much more exciting concept than the first 2 games. Just perhaps no parts where you can crash due to traffic coming at you from another part of the track. That can seem a little too randomly unavoidable.
