A retrospective look at Final Fantasy IV, by upmagic - PSU Community Review

PlayStation Universe community member upmagic writes:

"The algorithmic emotion ends up falling in line with the numbers game that Final Fantasy IV truly comes off as: a hypnotic dungeon crawl where melodic themes nest in your mind as you work up a party worthy of presenting to the next boss. A well-mapped adventure filled with grueling struggle, it proves as addicting as it is unmemorable; a game where becoming a righteous Paladin is more meaningful for its addition to your banks of healing magic than as a turning point of the experience." (Final Fantasy IV, PSP, Retro) 7.0/10

Some of the community work coming from the PSU forums is absolutely phenomenal; the industry could learn from the fans with this kind of material.

Seems like the random encounter rate is still pretty high like the GBA version... It's annoying to run away, but I put the battle speed higher and it made my battles much faster and put me more on my toes.
I haven't tried the PSP one yet despite owning it, but I'm glad it keeps the Lunar Trials and character swapping from the GBA one. Edward becomes one power house post-level 70! Kain's Lunar Trial is also rather deep and really good. (though I hear it contradicts The After Years and I think I know why)
