8 Sequels to look out for in 2013

A new year sees a new batch of fresh installments to proven franchises arriving on our shores. Whether you're a fan of first-person shooters, open-world adventures or have a penchant for the strategy genre, 2013 has something for you. (PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360)

GTA5 isn't really a sequel though, besides just having a 5 in it.

...What? How is GTA5 not a sequel? You may want to look up the definition.

Sequel:
- Something that follows; a continuation.
- A literary, dramatic, or cinematic work whose narrative continues that of a preexisting work.
- a novel, play, etc., that continues a previously related story

I guess besides it being open world, and the name that's all it really has it going to call it a "sequel". The story will be much different, and most likely won't have any relationship with GTA4 besides a few small references for fun.

I consider each new GTA a completely different title. We never do continue to follow the story of a main character ( well I think there was one? But that's an expansion I think).

Take a look at Uncharted, Killzone, Gears of War, Halo, pretty much every game with a sequel. They all follow after one another with the first title being critical to it's story. CJ story doesn't matter in GTA4, nor wills Nico matter in GTA5.

"a sequel portrays events set in the same fictional universe as an earlier work, usually chronologically following the events of that work."

The GTA sequels are a continuation of the same on-going fictional world that R* has created. The main characters may change, but some characters return and make small cameos. We've seen San Andreas in the 90's, now we will return there in present day when GTAV comes out.
You could even say that the cities themselves are the main characters of the GTA series.

It's the same reason I call "Fallout 2", "Fallout 3", and "Fallout: New Vegas" sequels. Each installment is a continuation of the wasteland inhabitants.

I believe he meant it, by it not following a previous story(line) and only having a number that shows the title as a successor to/in the GTA series...

I guess...

6 People are kinda dumb. It's not a continuation of a particular story, why can't they grasp that?! What a bunch of rubes.

I want:
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2
Grand Theft Auto V
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
Bioshock infinite(even tho its not really a sequel its the third "Bioshock" game).

Look out everyone, we're about to get some crybabyism going on in here due to the fact that 5 out of the 8 games are going to be on systems other than the WiiU.

I agree with everything, but instead of GTA 5 I'd do bioshock, and bad company 2 I'd rather put out dead island:)

All except Crysis 3. Meh.
