Unlock or Delete: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance PS3 Demo

TQ author writes: Hideo Kojima’s new Metal Gear game, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is just a week away from its US release and while this isn’t your traditional Metal Gear type of game, the demo does show off traditional features mixed with a whole lot of slashing. But is it enough to sell the game? Let's take a look.

One of the most entertaining demos I've played this gen. I had NO interest in this game and after I played the demo a few times, my excitement for this reminds me of the excitement I had when I bought GTA: Vice City :)

Really? Maybe it's me man, I just didn't like it. I'll have to at least rent it, but I thought the demo was pretty repetitive and the story didn't grab me. I hope the end product is good. I really love the MG universe.

EDIT: Didn't agree or disagree. Just wished it grabbed me. A lot of my buddies like this demo.

Yeah i had high expectations considering the Metal Gear name and their other games all being really high quality.

But damn, that demo was sooo disappointing. You can literally just hold L1 and quickly mash the analog in directions and just cut things in 40 or 50 pieces in slow motion with like the goofiest looking swinging animation since Playstation Move Heroes. And the some of the lines were just... And the facial animations. The AI just firing rocket launchers at you when you're 2 feet in front of them. Ugh like everything. Even the Gekkos, all you need to do is jump in the air, hold L1 and wiggle the analog stick back and forth really fast.

Idk it was legit the most disappointing thing that ive experienced in a long time lmao. Maybe it needs a second chance when the full game comes out idk.
Though the full game definitely still has potential, right now i have overly-low expectations.

Also call me crazy but Move support would instantly make it a million times better even just for the tech demo aspect lmao. It feels like it was made for the Move.

I think I was more interested before playing it.

Renter. Unless the game really hooks me, not a buyer. Didn't like the feel of the hack-n-slash. I know it's not a true MG game...it felt too over the top. From the trailers, etc. Raiden seems like an extreme psychopath, a bit too much for a protagonist in the MG universe, yes?
Hoping the game isn't set up whereas you enter an area-slice and dice, you enter another area-slice and dice, and repeat, repeat, repeat....

I think this game is gonna be awesome because I've heard nothing but praise for P+ games eventhough I couldn't play bayonetta cos of the soundtrack. *yeah to me soundtrack matters* fingers crossed for this

I loved the demo until I got to that damn dog robot thing with the chainsaw tail.
He killed me so quick. I couldn't find the block button. All I saw was "to parry hit analog and square"

I was like "where the hell is the god damn block button!!!!" Lol

Hanso1291d ago (Edited 1291d ago )

to block you input the parry
if you do it on the last possible moment Raiden will parry. If you do it too soon he will just block
you can also dodge via square+X

LOGICWINS1291d ago

Yeah, the wolf dog pissed me off at first. But I figured him out after memorizing his moves. After several playthroughs, the parrying becomes second nature.

Unlock that bad boy. Best action game I've played in a while.
