Why Digital Distribution Trumps Physical Distribution

Over the last decade we’ve seen more and more mediums going digital. Most music is now pirated and bought online through services like itunes, and more recently streaming TV shows and Films through services like Netflix is becoming the norm. We are transitioning into an almost exclusively digital age, and gaming is inevitably next to go. That’s a good thing… here’s why: (Industry)

Games are getting bigger not smaller. Internet keeps going up in price. Not feasible.

1 or 2 hours to download what a bunch of horse crap. DW7:Empires will be first full length PS3 game I am going to download off PSN(because the US is not getting a disc version because of no English voices), and Ii scared to death that it will take me 35 or 40 hours to download.

Funny more and more games no longer have a manual. Secondly shipping cost are paid for by retailers and they come in that retailers normal shipments. Third the caps on internet access around the world or lack of access even in the United States makes this idea non feasible as mandf pointed out.
