Fire Emblem: Awakening Review | Trendy Gamers

Having just re-re-re-played Advance Wars: Dual Strike for about 30 hours last month, I wasn’t sure I was ready for another portable strategy RPG. Shortly after starting up Fire Emblem: Awakening though, those doubts were quickly erased. I have a feeling that this game is destined to be the best strategy RPG on the 3DS (at least until we see the next Advance Wars (hopefully)).

I am SO loving this game right now... On Chapter 9 and am enjoying everything about it. My only single complaint is the lack of voice acting. There's not a whole lot of it, however it's nothing to deter from such an amazing experience.

Which difficulty are you playing on? Classic or Casual?
Snookies12  +   1024d ago
Classic for sure. It's infuriating at times, but having that pressure there to not lose any member in battle is awesome at the same time. It really makes battles feel that much more important.

Same here. Already one of my favorite games ever. By far my favorite FE game, and there is nothing I could say bad about it so far.

* Good Art Style

* Great Music

* good and varied animations

* One of the best cast of characters ever in a game both personality and looks wise.

* Quality is smeared over everything

* Tons of Free Spotpass characters + DLC characters & Maps.

* Main Story + Prologue ( side missions ) + Risen random battles = tons of game to play

There is just so much good going for this game.

Other dev's need to take notice.

This is how you make a game.

I would definitely do so. I did and since I couldn't find it in stores I just purchased it off the eStore. Knowing that I wouldn't delete it for quite some time.

Where can I buy a physical copy of this game at regular price? It seems like everywhere is sold out. Why is the stock so low for this game? I really don't want to buy it off the eshop.

I just kept checking all the Bestbuys', Gamestops and even <Cringes> Walmarts'....

I was lucky to get a copy on the 5th at Gamestop. I'd even pre-ordered it a while before it came out and they only got a few copies in. It was basically a "first come, first served" basis.

Not sure why the stock was so low either... Unless it just sold way more than expected and they ran out of them. (Which I'm hoping, because this game SERIOUSLY deserves all the sales it can get.)

I have heard nothing but good things about FE. It sounds like a must have title for the 3DS!

Looks fantastic. Might have to check it out.

It's one of the most fantastic titles I've played on the 3ds or any system for that matter. Def will wind up in the Srpg hall of fame. I was kind of worried about the dlc tbh but after playing it and seeing how it has 25 some odd chapters, side chapters, random encounters on the map, battling other teams, and dozens of streetpass/spotpass missions its more than fine ( although on cart would be fine also). It's more special missions with classic characters. The main game is stuffed with content already. If you can find this buy it as it will be rare even with the Eshop version. Between this and Devil Survivor Overclocked my strategy needs are met for a long time and I still need to get Etrian Odyssey 4 in two weeks also. Too many great RPGs lately.

I think the low stock was because its usually been a low key franchise for the established fans. It's hard and unforgiving which turns off new players. This one though has casual mode, some streamlined stuff, more mainstream appeal, a demo, and has gotten a big push lately. I think it will sell far better than expected. Nintendo usually underestimates anything that's not Mario, Zelda, exc but after Operation Rainfall we opened their eyes. We did get this retail and digital which bodes well for SMT x Fire Emblem and Xeno whatever it will be (blade 2?).
