Assassin’s Creed 4: 10 Things It Needs

WC - To the surprise of roughly no-one, it was finally announced officially today that Asssassin’s Creed 4 is in the works, and that it would introduce a new protagonist as well as a new time period to the previous game.

I’ll be the first to admit that I was a little cold to this series to begin with; the first game didn’t inspire much in me with its repetitive mechanics and style-over-substance approach, but every subsequent title has introduced something new that surprised and impressed me.

Agreed. I still love the idea of the series, and the concept of visiting different time zones is fascinating. But the series has become extremely stale in the last couple of years, with very little innovation. They should either start a new IP, or else completely redo the way the game plays, adding real stealth mechanics.

Saying that, if they set the game in Victorian London, I will certainly by buying it. The idea of stalking templars through dark, rain-drenched alleyways just sounds too good to be true.

I rather like assassin's creed but they can't seem to get the climax of their main story lines to be very good. In fact in 3 after doing all of the homestead missions I felt the last homestead mission wrapped up the game better then the main story. Also the Desmond parts were always really boring to me.

I love the assassins creed games, but the only new thing it needs now is a proper ending.

What it needs is an ending to the modern day story. It's dragging the series down. After that they can just do single games with various Assassin's about them vying for control in certain parts throughout history without having to worry about all the first civilian stuff that the games have now. It'd feel more like AC1, where the Apple was just a mysterious object that gave people power, not a doorway to a grand conspiracy throughout time.
