Project CARS keeps getting better and better; new community screenshots released

DSOGaming writes: "It’s been a while since our last pCars gallery, no? Thankfully, Slightly Mad Studios has released a new set of community screenshots for its upcoming racer. Project CARS looks spectacular, especially when using the SweetFX tool, and as always the following shots show purely in-game footage that has not been made in any special photo mode with no post-processing or filters that aren’t available during the actual gameplay. Enjoy!"

015.jpg has some pretty insane detail going on there.

The engine doesn't half toss some polygons about. Wheels look like.....round :o even up close.

Shadows look like...shadows. Not crawling low res blocks.

The closest racer to photorealism. It does show diminishing returns though, much more power and then photorealism will be possible in racing games at least. We are very close now. I can't see it being more than another 3-4 years before we see a racer indistinguisable from real life in screens.

Probably a sequel to this game on PC? Bets on now.

I seem to be the only person that is 50/50 on this game. Some screen shots look absolutely astonishing to me, while others look bad. Some of the screen shots just give that instant, "oh, it's just a video game vibe" while other you have to stare at before you can determine whether it's a game or real life.

Very close to GT5 in most respects.

Probably has better shadows though.

Project cars still has cheap tree's though.

I think it also shows how far graphically GT5 was pushed, sure some area's could have been a lot better. But lighting/car shaders/premium models are second to none.

I bet this game only runs at 30fps on consoles though.

Thanks for the laugh!

Are you serious chukamachine? No. I knew you were kidding with that post. Good one though...You had us there for a second thinking GT5 looks even close to this...Good one!!! :-O

ROFL. Ill have 2 of what ever you are smoking.

GT5 looks better? BAHAHAHA

Hehe - your joking right????

I actually laughed - seriously, I got funny looks from across the room.

Just give me this game on a next gen console or let me win the lottery to afford to update my pc to run this at 60fps.

Reaching too far, chukamachine, but the Nurbugring's tracks look a lot better than the Nordschleife in pCARS.

What the hell though? The gameplay in pCARS uses post-processing filter(s) as a default setting. You're given the ability to turn it off, so let's see those screenshots.

Clearly all PC footage, but it looks breathtaking. I like all the different forms of racing they are incorporating. Will definitely keep my eyes on this one.

These pictures look really very good. But... all the footage I've seen the last month from pCars don't look even close to these pictures.

I've always thought from what I've seen of pCars that it looks kinda rough. If I comapare the HD-videos I've seen of pCars on Youtube to GT5 they're pretty close. I think a game like Assetto Corsa looks much better from what I've seen.
