The Walking Dead: 5 Reasons It’s Overrated

"The Walking Dead was one of 2012′s most talked about games. Based on the comic book (that spawned the TV series), The Walking Dead was developed by Telltale Games in an episodic fashion, much like a TV show. " | Explosion.com (PC, PS3, Telltale Games, The Walking Dead: Episode 1 "A New Day", The Walking Dead: Episode 5 "No Time Left", The Walking Dead: Season 2 - Episode 1 "All That Remains", Wii, Xbox 360)

A good game finds success: IT'S OVERRATED!

I feel asleep 3 times playing this. I gave it a try. Just too boring / slow for my taste.

I haven't even played this game and its story is so obvious. Let me guess the guy dies in the end saving the little girl ?

The game is liked more for what happens in between the beginning and end.

And I don't know about you, but usually in games the devs dont kill off the main character, so unless you already knew what happened at the end, its pretty weird to guess that for a game :/

Number 1 rule in horror zombie movies is no survivors, unless its a cute little girl. The only reason she survives is to make the main character a hero.

101 plot device, I feel like Jamie Kennedy in Scream. LOL.

I liked it, but it is definitely over rated. Doesn't deserve GOTY with so many other good games that released last year. People try to make it seem like it's more than it is. It's better than a lot of the show, but not nearly as good as the comics. And the story is pretty predictable too.

I wouldn't call it over rated at all. It might not be what some people like but neither was Heavy Rain and we moved past that "over rated" argument.

The Walking Dead deserves every bit of praise it's gotten. Best game of it's kind since Heavy Rain and I'm pumped for the next season.

When I was playing Heavy Rain my mother was sitting next to me talking on the phone, after an hour I noticed she was still there and looking at the screen, then she asked me if I was going to keep playing cause she was very interested in the story. The same happened to my brother.
After buying TWD I told her I was going to play a game like Heavy Rain, but we got bored after an hour or so. I still kept playing but basically it was just because I paid for it.

Cool story bro lol. I had a great time with the game. I guess it's not for everyone.

that whole VGA stunt was the biggest load of payed off nonsense I have ever seen. either that or just super biased judges. it was all just a ploy to boost the sales of the game.

its funny how after it got that award, reviewers who had previously given the episodes ratings of 7s and 8s, all of a sudden give the collection 9s and 10s. its a joke. the walking dead is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a 10/10 game.

and then the collection gets these high metascore averages because it only received about 12 reviews, and then metacritic asininely grants it GOTY. no metascore with 12 reviews is credible.

I have never seen a game steal the spotlight like this. and I dont mean it in a good way. I mean, through marketing measures this game swooped in at the last minute, pulling the rug out from under numerous games that were superior and much more deserving of recognition.

Right. Because Telltale Games has deep pockets. Deep enough to pay off loads of reviewers and advertisers and the VGAs, which are a joke to begin with.

The Walking Dead is a good game not because it does everything every other game does better than every other game, but because of the things it does different than every other game it does extremely well. The focus is on story and not on action, but there's still interactivity. This is what Telltale does best. The gore in TWD is a bold step forward for them.

If you're put to sleep by The Walking Dead, go pop in an action game and complain about how the industry is stagnating. Besides, if TWD wouldn't have won at the VGAs, it probably would have been COD.
