Ubisoft is repeating past mistakes with Rayman Legends delay

Gimme Gimme Games argues that Ubisoft is repeating past mistakes with their Rayman Legends announcement today. They write:

"One of the major issues for Rayman Origins in 2011 was that it released close to a brand new Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed and Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Despite Origins being one of the best platformers in a long time it wasn’t a run-away success, largely due to its marketing and the timing of its release.

Fast forward to September 2013 and it seems like Ubisoft is set to make the same mistakes again. Releasing Rayman Legends in a crowded month and not capitalizing on a player base that is desperate for a great new release." (PS3, Rayman Legends, Ubisoft, Wii U, Xbox 360)

I'm actually glad that more people get to play the game. What I'm not happy about is the delay. Seriously, the game's release date was right freaking there, just weeks away, now it's freaking 7 months. I'm guessing the Wii U version was pretty much already completed why not just release it as originally planned and develop the PS3 and 360 ports down the line. And releasing it the same time as GTA V. I really hope it doesn't get overshadowed like Origins did. These games are so well made. They deserve better than that.

More people getting to play the game(it going multiplatform) is irrelevant to the issue that is being discussed and what the Wii U owners have a problem with. I really wish 360/PS3 fanboys would stop trying to insist upon this nonexistent anguish that Nintendo fans are suppose to have over it coming to the PS3 and 360, and insert it in every conversation.

The topic of this article, and the only thing Nintendo fans have a problem with is the delay from a few weeks from now to 7 months. Not a pinch more.

Please, stop trying to flair up a non-issue. Could you pass that around? Its coming to the PS3 and 360 really makes no difference to them.

I totally don't understand your reply, lilbroRX. Chadboban didn't say Wii U owners hate that they're losing their exclusive. He was just stating he was happy it's going multiplat, as am I. Chad also said his one complaint is the delay... and then you said the same thing. So what are you disagreeing with?

@ElectricKaibutsu. My problem is that it is the first thing everyone brings up even when it has nothing to do with the argument.

I think its great that more people can play it as well, but its not relevant to the topic.

This article is all about the release timing but the first thing I see is "I'm actually glad that more people get to play the game." No one was saying that it is a problem.

Even the comment below this one. "More ppl play the game: GOOD " is the first statement.

I'm aware he didn't state that Wii U owners have a problem with it, but then why bring it up where its not an issue? The way people insist on tacking it own to every comment everywhere I look has become an eye sore for me.

Though I suppose I shouldn't have targeted his comment so harshly for it. My apologies. It is getting kind of tiring to read though.

(how to get your game to flop)
step 1:make enemies out of a entire console fanbase
step 2:release it the same month maybe even the same day as GTA 5

Nintendo should just fuck 3rd partys off and just build loads of studio's basically i could live with a console that just has 1st and 2nd party games getting sick of these publishers always backing Sony and Microsoft if i was Nintendo i'd say hey we don't want ur game were going to make something better,Nintendo can survive without these studio's look at Legocity thats the biggest 3rd party exclusive in a long time callaborations are the only 3rd party games we need.

the delay, the delay, the delay... that is the issue. nothing else. no delay, no issue. multplat, no issue. delay, HUGE ISSUE!

devs said, it's the closing week; heck devs even hated it (the delay)!
