Just a while ago, Ubisoft announced that we’ll be getting a new Assassin’s Creed title in the next fiscal year. That’ll come out anywhere from October this year to September of 2014 but it might be sooner than you think.
I'm taking a wait and see approach. AC3 was the most disappointing game of the year for me last year, and yes, I remember that Mass Effect 3 and Resident Evil 6 were 2012 titles.
Yep i didnt like it either. Connor ruined the whole game. I bet it be a spin off unless its for PS4 if it comes out this year. If its a spin off and Connor is the main character this will be the 1st AC i wont touch.
IGN confirmed that Ubisoft was done with Connor and he wont star in the next AC. I actually liked him too http://ca.ign.com/articles/...
I had no issues with Connor, granted he was little of a pussy but still... he wasn't that bad to not let him reappear. AC3 was a great game, had many technical issues, but the game itself was pretty amazing. Especially the sea battles, it was the first time in a while i got awed by what they achieved with the ships and water physics. I found myself going back to the ship missions over and over again.
However, the frontier was gorgeous. great set design and graphics. I was more dissapointed with the in town stuff. Snoozefest.
connor was alright. but that ending was completely stupid. you go through all that trouble for it to end like that? thought ubisoft promised that ac3 answer all of our questions...
I'm about 60-70% complete with the Game and I haven't been compelled to play it again since about 5 days after it was released. I like the story and I want to see what happens, but everything is so tedious and it's like I'm just trying to get through it, which is not a sign of a fun game.
Lets freaking hope so. I guess they mustve been inspired by the great Naval battle system they had. Plus, after the cancellation of Armada of the Damned, we havent had any good Pirate Sandbox/RPG games at all...
I agree, I actually really liked the Naval battles in the game. I would've liked for there to have been more to do with them. Even if there was like a free roam and could attack ships..
Turn of the 19th Century; Themes such as American Exceptionalism & the breakup of Imperialistic Europe, with cities such as art-deco Paris, industrial Liverpool & tsarist Moscow. Mixed with pre-WW1 steampunk-esque weapons & gadgets. That's an AC that I'd like to play.
Pirates, Samurais, or Vikings.. All sound good for the next ac.
I actually enjoyed AC3 over the past ones. To me the setting was more exciting, there was much to do beside the main story (Naval, Homestead, mini-games, side missions, crafting (enabling you to fire four times)), the way the story were told and the scenery was way more detailed. Connor never bothered me either, and I had minimal bugs. Desmond's ending was total crap though. I guess the love I had for AC3 made me blind to its mistakes. I'm guessing the next AC will be about the french revolution as it was inspired by the american revolution. If the main character is Connor again I hope he evolves and is not as ignorant as he were in AC3.
I see us getting an AC game this year but it won't be AC4. Connor going come back one more time i think before AC4. Him and avalein perhapes together for this next one. I enjoyed AC3 as well in fact it's my favorite.
Im with you Mykky, I loved AC3. I thought Connor was a great character. I loved the way that he strived for peace and non-violent resolutions, but in the end he would kill to protect his tribe and his land. Ya gotta respect that. Also agree that the graphics and storytelling were also fantastic... and yes, I thought Desmonds story was shite as well
Still cannot See AC4 out this year though. We will see 2 or 3 spin offs first like with AC3 Ubisoft love to milk there games.
After AC2, all AC games are like twilight to me now. Many, all of them suck, unnecessary.
Agreed. You don't become an assassin until over way through the game, and even then you don't do much 'assassinating'
@kaoz i completely agree, while the game was pretty disappointing what was pulling me through was the thought of the ending. the entire time i thought to myself "this is going to be so great, finally the trilogy ends, cant wait till i finally get there!"(note: unlike many others, my favorite part about AC was the modern day part, even if dismond was kind of a wimp). after that ending it was clear to me that ubi doesnt give two shits about the story. i understand that they wanted to continue the AC series but they still could've done that by neatly finishing up the modern day aspect(the part that the majority dont even like) and continuing the series w/ the animus(like Liberations) long story short, I'm done with AC. Like Altier & Ezio say, "I've seen enough for one life."
Well if it had a subtitle it wouldn't be AC4 now would it Besides I hope it's not with Connor and the American Revolution. Connor sucked completely Oh and if it IS pirate themed which i have to admit "Black Flags" does sound it then that means a lot of naval battles on the seas....I must be the only one who hated the naval battle missions. They were cool at first but felt like a chore
You're not the only one. Although I felt the whole game was boring, really lost its way.
Black Flags might refer to Anarchism, you could see how that plotline might work, Anarchists were at their most active in the 19th and early 20th century and they did their share of political assassinations. http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
Thanks for the heads up, thats interesting
E32013 well "surprisingly" get another assassians creed, you know I used to be a huge fan but once ubisoft started milking ac and neglecting pop and bg&e, I just could care less for the series anymore, heck I had to force myself to beat the last game. EDIT: let me guess disagrees are from blind assassians creed fanboys
I'm disagree with your reason not that you couldn't care less. I'm not excited for AC4 because AC3 sucked, I couldn't care less about POP and BG&E.
Thats a dumb reason to disagree, my main point was that ac is milked to death and the games are getting boring, besides I could care less if you dont like pop or bg&e,but you do know that you would not have assassians creed had it not been for prince of Persia.
They are being milked, but developers have their "rotation" of games that have to meet a release in a given period. The only thing I see Activision rotating is the COD series. While EA rotates Deadspace, Medal Of Honor (out of rotation) Battlefield coming (next year) ME4 ( maybe fall of 2014)Dragon Age (Spring of next year. Next gen is upon us and new Ips are being made from EA a Ubisoft and hopefully Activision.
Please let it be set in Victorian London. Or even a territory in the British Empire for that matter!
I strongly suspect that the next one will be during the French Revolution.
I was disappointed with AC3 and yet have to complete it despite receiving it as a Christmas gift. AC3 require too much aimless running and that is boring, also, Connor is ridiculously boring. But yeah, this will be the first one I've missed. The series has been run into the ground with yearly releases.
Interesting. Just dont make it as bad as ac3
Lets hope the take 2 years instead of one, this time.
A seperate team was actually developing ac3 from the start of 2010, after ac2
Bigger isnt always better. They should really focus and refine the game, instead of making it big and putting everyone on it. I think thats why Revelations was amazing from start to finish, and AC3 failed in a few places
Yes AC3 was dissapointing! Connor was the worst character in the series. Just hope they don't continue with conner or I will pass on AC4
Didn't you finish the game? ----SPOILERS---- He is done. There will be a new protagonist.
**Spoiler** We never saw Connor die did we? AC has always had more then one protagonist thats been desmond & the current assasin, we do know desmond is dead but Connor was not killed.
-- Spoilers -- At the end of AC3, you start chasing Charles Lee on a ship. They put too much pressure on the fragile wooden board with their weight when they run on it hastily, Connor eventually falls off the ship as it breaks down, and terriblly hurts one of his legs, becoming disabled permenantly. In the cutscenes of the epilogue sequence which takes 6 months after the last mission, you'll notice that he's still limping. Hence, he's done with what he does.
MEH, I enjoy Assassin's Creed 1,2,3 etc etc but I'm getting tired of it
Series needs to end for awhile. To many of them.
Milk. It does a publisher good.
ENOUGH WITH THE AC TITLES, UBISOFT! Give it a rest for a while, and come back when you have a really polished title to show us. Almost everyone agrees that the games have some noticable flaws anyway, so you have your work cut out for you.
Not suprising really, for the past few years they been releasing AC around the month of October.
Black Flags? Let it be based on being a pirate! I loved the ship parts of AC3... would love to see something really focused on the pirate life. It's been far too long since we had a good pirate game.... ARRRRRRHHH MATEY!
This. 1000x this. Though I'd still want the awesome parkour elements from AC3. Loved the Frontier, new stealth options, etc.
I would think, though, that there would still be a 'base of operations' Something like the 'Frontier,' along with all the trading elements. I would also expect there to be cites and towns, just like the other games. Which would still be open to all the parkour elements of the game.
@KaBaW Well, yeah. But even if it was just a spin-off that was only about naval combat, I'd still buy it. Imagine a game with 70 odd naval battles, with coastal bombardment, boarding other ships, big fleet engagements, all kinds of weather conditions, and ship customization out the gazoo... Like, I dunno, AC3's naval combat + Armored Core. My problem is: I want both.
With a character like Captain Jack Sparrow! >.<
Hmmm, I don't think it's time for an ACIV yet. I think Connor and Brazilian Independance was a good idea. They should do that. I'd be cool with 2 more Connor games so long as they're good.
So what happened to ubisoft talking about the "#" episodes of the game mean BIG change. I actually really enjoyed ACIII i have loved all of them & spent a hell of a lot of time just look at my avatar i love them but i need more info. Having said that thouhg i will play it!
The pacing and story of AC3 was a mess imo and the ending felt like a slap in the face. I was hoping for closure not another cliffhanger(Felt like one to me) like all the games before had, but then again maybe I just had high expectations.
Thats the problem with releasing so many AC games in such a short amount of time. Before AC3 came out, the gameplay was getting stale and boring as it was pretty much the same across the first 4 games. Being in the same sort of location all the time among the games didn't help either. AC3, at least for a while was a little fresh helped by the totally different era/location, but then that same old gameplay reared its head and thats when I ended up putting the game down. I am honestly getting tired of the same old gameplay to be honest. If the games were released 2 years apart, the gameplay wouldn't have felt as stale as it does now.
different teams doing different AC games AC3 was in development for a while not just one year and brotherhood and revelations was based off novels...i have an ac book about connors father before coming to america
That title...sounds like a ps vita spin off. I mean look at AC on vita, its called Assassin's Creed III: Liberation.
I'd like less Desmond/present day stuff and more past. Playing Assassins Creed on Vita now and to not have that has been a nice break. Enjoyed AC3 but I feel like what has been great in the past, Ubisoft totally changes it. Then brings in new stuff that ruins it A.K.A. the defense game. I liked the Sea battles but didn't like the assassin recruitment this time as much as other AC titles. In AC Liberation on VITA, I just got the whip and am having some fun with it.
After the great disappointment of AC3 on almost every aspect,(only exception is in graphics - which were awesome), I highly doubt I'll pay $60 for AC4. Ubisoft - Please bring back Ezio. Conor (or his dad) suck huge time :(
I want a modern day assassins creed in a business Suit.
I smell a Vita sequel brewing.
Good grief, Another AC already? UbiSoft is beginning to look more & more Call of duty'ish, & I don't think I like it. I enjoyed & finish 1 & 2, finished Brotherhood, skipped Revelations, & now lingering with 3. I kind of 'fell off' of AC after Brotherhood, I felt like I've done all that the franchise can deliver.
I stooped at brotherhood. Maybe another time ubi.
The thing is, COD is a 4 hour campaign. AC is more like 20 hours, 30-40 if you do everything. A new AC every year is worse than a new COD, I'm tired of building a group of assassin's, building a home/city only to have hours of gameplay essentially reset every year. Since Ubisoft have gone to the effort to create Old American cities, they will milk that work and the next 2 or 3 AC games will: 1. Not be called AC 4 2. Be set in America AC4 due in 2016 will be set in a new location. Only the TRUE numbered sequels offer fresh locations and characters but not gameplay.
