Ubisoft promises that fans "will not have to wait four years" for Far Cry 4

During Ubisoft's FY 2012-13 Q3 conference call, it was revealed that the publisher is already planning a new Far Cry game, promissing that fans "will not having to wait another 4 years" for another release.

When the first Far Cry was released it took Ubisoft another 4 years to deliver Far Cry 2, but the publisher believes it has the gameplay formula correct this time, so it shouldn't be long until we see Far Cry 4. (Far Cry 3, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

Now that they've been successful...let the milking begin

I can careless if they milk it. If it's a good game then go ahead but fix tiny things here and there. Honestly fry cry 3 was my second favorite game behind Journey last yr and being my first far cry game to enjoy I truly hope it doesn't take long to come out with a successor.

Considering Ubisoft had relative success with AC Liberation on the Vita, it would be pretty sweet if we got a Far Cry spin off on the handheld.

It's open-world mission structure & mini-game sidequests would definitely be welcome!

You think you'll turn it into a yearly release now, such as Assassin's Creed?
LOGICWINS  +   878d ago
Nope. More like every two years.
Athonline  +   878d ago
I hope not. After all we already got a yearly FPS release. FPSes such as Far Cry bet more on their SP than their MP to succeed -not the the MP isn't good- thus they can't really do so. SP needs more time to be developed properly, as it is much more game design/ideas pitching oriented than MP which is more "programming" related (for the networking, etc etc). Especially if we are talking for a large open world....

That didn't take long ..

You can't blame them though, the series is a serious cash cow for them. As a business, they will obviously milk it until the cows come home. So to speak.

I don't agree with it from a gamers perspective, but from a business standpoint it's quite an obvious route to take.

I haven't even played Assassins Creed since Brotherhood when it started taking a turn for the worse, but they will bleed this series dry.

Let's hope they have a decent story next time. Gameplay was great, but the story was nothing but low quality, stereotype driven, grammar school level garbage.

R* games like RDR & GTA's are riddled with zanny stereotypes (no one apparently gives a toss when the Irish & Eastern Europeans are ridiculed) but the second it's Polynesian or African caricature, the game suddenly becomes offensive!

I for one enjoyed Far Cry 3's story.

do a far cry mix with just cause and set the location in outer space.

I want to wait 4 years if they release it in complete working order unlike Far Cry 3

I bought the game at launch on PC & still as yet have not managed to play not 1 single multiplayer game in any form!

You've had some serious bad luck then as it hasn't been a problem for me. I'm not saying that you aren't having problems, just that it's been fine for me.

I would love to play as Vaas in Far cry 4! :D

Is this a good or a bad thing? Methinks this is bad. Quality over quantity gentlemen.

As long as they expand on what was in FC3 then fair enough, I hope they add a small urban city though just to give the game a little bit of variety in settings since the cars, bikes etc would look differnt from the off road ones you find in the jungle

Oh and if they make the map bigger at least add some flying vehicles. I mean it's not like people are actually going to land them properly, we'll just jump out over the jungle when we hit our destination

I would love some flying vehicles, and the ability to get off the ground at any time, similar to Just Cause, where we can hookshot (what the hell is it called, not the Zelda weapon I know) towards a tree and then deploy our wingsuit.

I wouldn't mind another far cry, just as long as it's not rushed. I don't want them to change TOO MUCH or introduce gimmicks as a skeevy way of putting "4" on the box, nor do I want a few changed lines of code either...

I'd rather wait 3 years for a properly made sequel than 1 year with only "improvements" to the already existing game. Similar will happen to Far Cry as it did with AC. AC1 was good. AC2 was better. Then came all the milking and I couldn't care less about the franchise now.
IIC0mPLeXII  +   878d ago
Well there goes that franchise. As long as Bethesda doesn't ruin the integrity of Dishonored I'll be happy.
e-p-ayeaH  +   878d ago
There´s alot of room for improvement and next gen will allow that.

I found Farcry 3 to be kind of boring actually, I think it might be the setting. I just don't find tropical islands fun to explore. I know im in the minority but the game just doesn't do it for me. I'll probly revisit it soon, same with AC3 which was also a disappointment.
