Why would they have an always online console, that's just begging for trouble...

Septic1265d ago

The rumour mill has been going on overdrive and the quality of the rumours vary from the reasonable to the ridiculous. I think we should all take these rumours with a pinch of salt, especially ones such as this featured one and the block on used games.

To be honest, I think we should just be skeptical about most of these rumours because there are so many and many have been orchestrated. Only 13 more days left for the Sony reveal and E3 isn't too far off if MS unveils its machine then.

All will be made clear soon. As nerdy as this sounds, the build up to the reveal is quite exciting. It's been 7+ years in the making after all!

theBAWSE1265d ago

Well I'm starting to believe its true as edge have now published more regarding this issue and they seem very confident..

@theBawse

Yeah you're right. I just read that and this rumour does actually seem to be taking root. Defnintely worried about this one.

I'm already against the idea of online passes. This is just another step forward in moving the industry back as far as us gamers are concerned.

theBAWSE1265d ago

@septic yeh an this is edge..not no small up and coming publication searching for hits but one that as much as I hate their pretentious reviews they are well connected and very respected in the industry

ms fans and infact gamers everywhere should be worried...edge do state Sony are not going along this route but what if people still blindly buy the Xbox720 ....this will make Sony take note

Septic1264d ago (Edited 1264d ago )

To be honest, if this does take route, Sony's console will automatically become my platorm of choice (dependong on the games and other factors of course).

The ONLY way I see this working is if MS' digital library has SIGNIFICANTLY lower price to reflect this drastic measure in the vein of Steam and its quite generous offerings. But even still, this is a bad sign of things to come.

theBAWSE1264d ago

Yeh agreed the downloads would need to be the same as PC games like 17.99 etc... but this is ms who charge to play online, sell games like halo odst at full price so who knows ...

this is gonna run and run until ms give concrete details of what is now seeming to be a now real possibility of 'always on'

asmith23061264d ago

Yeah, I have never seen so many rumours on this website. Nearly every article for the past month or so has qualified as a rumour. How they get accepted as well is beyond me. The content of these articles could basically be brought up by anyone, all they seem to be is the 'what if' thoughts of the authors. If I want to read about other peoples thoughts and opinions I would go to somewhere like Reddit. Where is the real journalism gone?

TheGamerDood1264d ago (Edited 1264d ago )

uhhh...until MS themselves comment on this issue then it's still very much a possibility.

This is just a stupid rumor. The backlash would be huge and I doubt this would be the case.

If anything, it would be available as an option to use by 3rd parties, but even that is unlikely.

If this happened, it would be by both console makers. That is the only way it would succeed by forcing the consumer.

koga881265d ago

I just can't see it. If they do that they will lose so many sales that it isn't even fathomable. I know for a fact if they make it so that you cannot play used or rented video games on the console then there is no way I'm going to drop my money on a console that limits my freedom so heavily. I may have liked the 360 the best this generation, but I'll gladly transfer to the PS4 or simply the PC if that rumor turns out to be true.

crillinFLIP3371264d ago

You want a system that will let you continue to play used games? Tell me, how many used pc games have you seen in the last 5-10 years? The pc community has had varying degrees of drm like this for years and it still thrives. Look at steam, since publishers don't have to worry about loosing money on the sale of used games, they are able to offer better prices than consoles at launch as, well as frequent and crazy sale prices. Its time for this industry to grow up and realize that it can't survive if it has to constantly compete against itself. While i don't like the idea of not being able to loan/borrow games with friends, I'm sure we will adjust and move on just like we always do when tech and media comes out.

LinkageAX1263d ago

This is very true, on PC (at least here) games are at minimum $10 cheaper but are often $20 or more. Look at DmC, $50 in comparison to $80 for consoles.

Red_Orange_Juice1265d ago

I dont care about XBox, but it makes me worried about Orbis

Intentions1265d ago (Edited 1265d ago )

Lol, it should be false, otherwise MS is basically forcing people to pay for XBL, assuming if XBL is still a premium service.

So yeah.

If it is true, then.. Oh my..

Fishy Fingers1265d ago

Not quite, Internet connection is rumoured to be needed, not XBL. This rumour is more about stopping used game sales than anything else.

Gamer391265d ago (Edited 1265d ago )

I think the answer simple.
New Xbox always online & no second hand games= MS suicide.
