There is always a way around stuff anyway if it really bothers you (unless the online is heavily integrated into the game itself). Buy a copy of the game and leave it in the shrink wrap, play the inevitable hacked version that does not force you to use DRM or any other service that you don't like. Talking about PC gaming obviously.
