Is Assassins Creed Worth All The Noise?

Much of the populous in modern gaming society has separate opinions concerning Assassins Creed. Some believe that it is far too overrated, and even are are even annoyed by their repetition and complicity complexity. Meanwhile others think the entire series is a huge gaming phenomenon. Two of the following are certain: the franchise is a huge part of modern gaming and they have an extreme fan base. It is a huge deal in gaming today because it is one of the only popular console games that come out every year, and one that isn’t a first person shooter! This game does a great job of at keeping a lot of casual console gamers from playing being isolated to only first person shooters. Some gamers (young ones normally) act as if there is no other game genre at all besides other than one with mindless shooting and no plot. (Assassin's Creed, Assassin's Creed 2, Assassin's Creed III, Casual games, PC, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360)

personally as a fan that owns every game including handheld, all except for 3 i gotta say that the only 2 games worth a damn in the series is 2 and brotherhood.

Assassin's Creed 2 GOTY is one of the very best games this generation....
... the other games are 'very good' at best (Brotherhood), or just OK-ish (the rest).

... and I still think the whole Desmond story and segments are horrible, no fun at all to play, and uninteresting. I would have liked Assassin's Creed 2 even more if it would have done without that whole crappy sci-fi Desmond layer on top of it all.

The Desmond part is utterly boring indeed, though if it was made better it COULD be pretty awesome.
To me AC 3 was a masterpiece because it was exactly how I like games to be. Though from an objective standpoint I can see that it wasn't perfect and deserved the 8/10 scores it got.
I was never too fond of AC 2 but that probably is because I didn't play it after 2 years of it's release.

I feel AC is becoming the new COD in the adventure/action genre. It isn't perfect but it fulfills the points that is important to the fans. I really don't mind a annual release if it stays on level with AC 3.

Yes.

Assassin's Creed? It was okay, yeah.
ACII? Definitely!
Brotherhood? Yes.
Revelations? Sure. I mean, I guess...
ACIII: Um... *scratches head*
ACIV (coming later this year, I hear): Zzz...

The meaning behind my comment? The notorious annual release business model is slowly killing another great series. If you haven't already, buy ACII and AC: Brotherhood (they're the best ones IMO). The others? Meh.

Only played 1,2 and Brotherhood. 2 was amazing, I doubt anyone could dispute that. One of my favourite games this gen. 1 was pretty fun, but not great.
Brotherhood was more of the same, but with better stealth. Overall a great game.

Have not played Revelations or 3 'yet'.

AC1 is one of the worst games i played this gen. most repetitive game i ever seen. good graphics good gameplay but man that game is worth nothing in the end. i bought AC2 anyway to give it a chance i liked the design as well but it's the same for me in the end. it's my opinion on it so all fanboys keep away!

I agree with you about AC 1 but I gotta say AC 2 deserves all the praise it got IMO. I think they turned it around and fixed almost almost every flaw in AC 1. That's just how I feel though.

i 100% agree with you and i respect your point of view but AC2 still felt repetitive to me even if i have to admit they made some efforts.

@abzdine

Fair enough. To each his own. I respect your opinion as well.

It's my favorite series this generation. I even liked the first one (although it's by far the worst).

Yeah?

Two words: amazing story. No need to argue further.

The lack of inspiration and creativity created a downhill quality overall since AC2.
The laziness created a downhill in performance and polish, with its bottom on AC3.
The story, pfff, don't mention it... After appealing to the muricans in AC3, in a clear money grab move, it was clear the game would be dumbed down to the called "cod crowd".
The design is getting worse and worse, from stupid enemies and mechanics to cheap mission fails to worse-ing controls.

AC3, CoD, Skyrim. They all have the same niche. The only difference between them is that CoD games are heavily polished and can offer challenge (MP).

Basically, AC2 =~ CoD4/6.

ACI was so clunky I just wanted to get it over with.
ACII has the biggest improvements made the series worthwhile
AC:brotherhood more improvements made it even better
AC:Revelations it was ok.
ACIII couldve been way better did not live up to the hype actually a little pissed I put a full $60 on it.

Shocking to here so many hate 3. I love all the AC games and i even enjoyed the comics. I collect anything AC as a hobbie. If i had to pick just one game to call my favorite i'd pick AC3 ,because the story is only going get better....unless your one of those who thinks will get AC4 this year. Ezio wasn't that great at the start. Brotherhood really helped that part of the story IMO.

I hate Assn Creed games with a passion just repetitive and boring game play. Circling around a thousand times and doing the same type of missions and sub missions.
