Much of the populous in modern gaming society has separate opinions concerning Assassins Creed. Some believe that it is far too overrated, and even are are even annoyed by their repetition and complicity complexity. Meanwhile others think the entire series is a huge gaming phenomenon. Two of the following are certain: the franchise is a huge part of modern gaming and they have an extreme fan base. It is a huge deal in gaming today because it is one of the only popular console games that come out every year, and one that isn’t a first person shooter! This game does a great job of at keeping a lot of casual console gamers from playing being isolated to only first person shooters. Some gamers (young ones normally) act as if there is no other game genre at all besides other than one with mindless shooting and no plot.
... the other games are 'very good' at best (Brotherhood), or just OK-ish (the rest).
... and I still think the whole Desmond story and segments are horrible, no fun at all to play, and uninteresting. I would have liked Assassin's Creed 2 even more if it would have done without that whole crappy sci-fi Desmond layer on top of it all.
To me AC 3 was a masterpiece because it was exactly how I like games to be. Though from an objective standpoint I can see that it wasn't perfect and deserved the 8/10 scores it got.
I was never too fond of AC 2 but that probably is because I didn't play it after 2 years of it's release.
I feel AC is becoming the new COD in the adventure/action genre. It isn't perfect but it fulfills the points that is important to the fans. I really don't mind a annual release if it stays on level with AC 3.
ACII? Definitely!
Brotherhood? Yes.
Revelations? Sure. I mean, I guess...
ACIII: Um... *scratches head*
ACIV (coming later this year, I hear): Zzz...
The meaning behind my comment? The notorious annual release business model is slowly killing another great series. If you haven't already, buy ACII and AC: Brotherhood (they're the best ones IMO). The others? Meh.
Brotherhood was more of the same, but with better stealth. Overall a great game.
Have not played Revelations or 3 'yet'.
Fair enough. To each his own. I respect your opinion as well.
Two words: amazing story. No need to argue further.
The laziness created a downhill in performance and polish, with its bottom on AC3.
The story, pfff, don't mention it... After appealing to the muricans in AC3, in a clear money grab move, it was clear the game would be dumbed down to the called "cod crowd".
The design is getting worse and worse, from stupid enemies and mechanics to cheap mission fails to worse-ing controls.
AC3, CoD, Skyrim. They all have the same niche. The only difference between them is that CoD games are heavily polished and can offer challenge (MP).
Basically, AC2 =~ CoD4/6.
ACII has the biggest improvements made the series worthwhile
AC:brotherhood more improvements made it even better
AC:Revelations it was ok.
ACIII couldve been way better did not live up to the hype actually a little pissed I put a full $60 on it.
