Obscure Revival Revealed

Focus Home Interactive has today teased the revival of the Obscure videogame franchise, a popular survival horror series that made its debut back in 2004. Originally developed for Xbox, PlayStation 2 and PC, it’s been a very long time since we’ve heard anything of Obscure, but the upcoming reboot looks set to be something entirely different. (Obscure, Obscure: The Aftermath, PC, PS2, PS3, Wii, Xbox, Xbox 360)

That first image makes me very nervous as to where this reboot will be heading.

It's a typical attempt to appeal to the vast majority...

Obscure was never a popular franchise, it was very much "Obscure" but I imagine it had a nich fan following who probably aren't going to be happy with the reboot if the ad pic is anything to go by.

Uh oh. That doesnt look at all like an Obscure game. Looks like some sort of arcade game for phones...or consoles.

I don't think I could call it a "popular" horror series. It really was pretty obscure and I picked it up the first one for PS2 by chance from a bargain bin. It was a fun co-op experience and had some pretty suspenseful moments. Even the cheesy characters were kind of fun. I really loved the Olivier Deriviere soundtrack to the second game especially tracks like "Bad Behavior" and "Corruption with Rage & Melancholy"(He posted the music for free on his website).

Looking at the image for the reboot, I think the ad looks kind of off putting to me. Obscure was never cartoony & colorful. It's nothing detailed yet but we'll see.

Ohhhh nooooooo. I bet it's gonna a top-down twin-stick shooter. I remember playing Obscure: The Aftermath on Wii and this looks nothing close to it.

YES! I loved this series back when it was originally released. I need to give it a try again, to see if it still has that nostalgic value, lol.

Also, it having co-op and being survival horror-esque was just too awesome. Yeah, the characters and dialogue were corny, but w/e.

The picture is really turning me off. I loved the first game never got around to the second one sadly. The picture makes it seem like they would be better off doing a Zombies Ate My Neighbors reboot.
