Holygrenade questions when Activision will finally hammer the last nail into Call of Duty's coffin, a question all the more important as a new console generation looms.
as long as people give them money, there will always be a call of duty.
Lol. Very true. Black Ops 2 is the last CoD for me. I've only played it about 5 times since its release. Perhaps if they fixed the hacks and glitches, it wouldn't be so bad. They only care about their $500 million in 24 hours sales rather than what the fans think.
Don't you know the conspiracy theory going around? They purposely put in glitches and make it easy for people to hack. --The glitches are for people to waste hours trying to find. And they look forward to the next game to see how hard it'll be to find the glitches. --Making it easy to be hacked... well... another marketing ploy? Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if it was!
@ChrisW. No one said it was a conspiracy. Activision just doesn't care enough to fix the issues.
Black ops 2 was actually pretty good...considering. If they are smart, they have been building a big bad ass next gen version of modern warfare for launch. It wont be smart to release a lesser quality one along side gta5 and next gen consoles. Hell, make a deal with microsoft or Sony for a bundle and make MW the face of the launch. But it has to look fantastic. I am not a cod fan. I play rpgs but i bought black ops for zombies. I just think that despite belief to the contrary, a visible death of cod could hurt the video game industry. It can die after a succesaful launch, but it could also help it succeed. Imagine a 16 yr old seeing a next gen version. Every kid in american will want a console for xmas.
they will as long as it sells a few million copies
until the cow stop milking "CALL OF DUTY" it will be around.
They need to combine Infantry ward and Treyarch and release games every two years not yearly.
Black Ops 2 was made by both Infinity Ward and Treyarch. That's why it's similar to the Modern Warfare series.
"How Long Can Activision Keep Putting Out Call of Duty?" Who knows? Its such a generic mediocre game with no sense of innovation. But I guess none of that matters as long as it keeps selling millions there will always be another sequel. I've said it once and I'll say it again, Call Of Duty is probably the biggest anomaly of this generation.
until the braindead sheep take thair goggles off and notice how crap the series actually is
Well, I agreed, but I won't say it's crap. It's just not as great as people want to believe it is. The games are still enjoyable, but with how little they change, they're definitely not worth the full price they charge, ESPECIALLY when that price goes up a few months later when the DLC drops(which you NEED in order to get the full multiplayer experience out of the game). But as long as people are still buying tens of millions of copies, Activision won't feel any pressure to change anything.
It's business. It sells well. Why would they stop? When it stops doing so well.. two things could happen. 1. They may stop totally making COD - rare. 2. They go back to the drawing board, and look at how to properly enhance aspects which made it good to begin with. - Possible But neither of those two will happen.. whilst it rakes in the cash.
Activision killed off Guitar Hero when it started slacking in sales. It's not entirely out of the realm of possibility that Acti might axe CoD too.
the first cod mw was good i even liked cod waw mainly for the zombies but it just went downhill from there. but like you said as long as millions keep buying it they wont feel like they need to put any effort into improving the series
You imply they are not putting in effort, which is not fair to say. Why stray far from the path when you are selling the most software.
They won't be able to resist any longer than they are now.
Not a big CoD fan, but this franchise gets too much hate. Would people still hate it if it wasn't as popular?
I bought 2, 3 and 4 and then I was done. Don't know how people are still buying them every year.
They should follow Valve's strategy: Release less often but give us a high quality game which lasts ages. Since the 360 came out we have had trouble with this BS we call DLC as well, and now it is slowly infecting PC games. Back in the day games used to cost what they cost and nothing more, DLC was merely a free download patch which added even more to the game and made it better. Nowadays we have dev's putting out DLC left right and center. Guess that cash cow will keep on mooing for a while yet.
lol when Jason West, and Vincent Zampella's new game comes out nobody will even remember call of duty.
