The story is too old to be commented.

I am loving all these announcements for this game - what a great surprise. Whatever system you play on, it's great to see developers taking care of established IPs moving into a new generation of consoles.

More details from Neogaf:
Enemy AI completely rebuilt, scripted bosses out
Environmental combat 'contributions' (a dozen types of interactive objects)
---> Wasp hive irritated using Aard

Magical signs retooled
Igni = new flamethrower effect
The magic tree advancement allows secondary sign forms = ie. Igni and a 360-degree blast
Yrden = small trap can be modified into a larger field that slows any enemy

Other trees, Swordsmanship and Alchemy
New strikes under Swordsmanship, boosts like improved stamina and parrying
Mutation mechanic under a different development path
Not much information given about Alchemy path, other than it being based on potions

Horse could be used to access long term stash, as well as Inns
Team aware of frustrations of inventory management in The Witcher
Committed to a less tedious process

Crafting critical to maximize Geralts potential, but weapons and armor can be found in many ways
Players can customize their crafted weapons with some components, ie, monster scales for leather in armor

Each armor piece has unique appearance, new cloth simulation tech.
Barber is in from the get go. Dying hair is OUT OF QUESTION, White Wolf.

I'm so excited for this game. I have played through The Witcher 2 a couple times on PC and it is by far one of my favorite games.

I'm so happy that it will be open-world and will use new technology and be on next gen consoles. I will be getting the PC version, but it's nice to know that they won't be held back by older consoles.

Mainsqueeze1931d ago

Super excited for this! One of the only problems I personally had with the 2nd witcher was that it didn't have an open. Now it will lol! 2014 is going to be good for RPGs if this and Dark Souls 2 end up being as good as expected and who knows maybe even Fallout 4 or something.

JaredH1932d ago

It sounds like it's going to be like Skyrim in its openness. Of course it's going to have a better story and combat though.

Mariusmssj1932d ago

World supposedly 20% bigger than Skyrim’s
30-40 minutes to cross world on Horseback
New streaming technology (CDRED Engine 3)

Words can't describe the epicness

rpd1231931d ago

I never understood the obsession with Skyrim. It may be open world, but every storyline sucks and the combat isn't very advanced. The Witcher is so much better.

shutUpAndTakeMyMoney1932d ago (Edited 1932d ago )

Best RPG devs hands down.. All because of the freesom they have on pc. They will do the consoles justice also.

Edit: lol I mean freedom.

BanBrother1932d ago

Lol 'freesom'. Sounds like a cockney British person saying 'threesome' haha.

NewVegasTroop1931d ago

no, obsidian is the best RPG studio

RememberThe3571932d ago

Is it weird that I've never played these games yet I feel the same way?

Irishguy951932d ago

Ney, an epic game is an Epic game right. Witcher 2 in my top 3 this gen/

TheEnigma3131931d ago

If you have steam they do sales for this series all the time. You should check them out.

ILive1931d ago (Edited 1931d ago )

Cant wait! I bought the witcher 2 without knowing what to expect. It turns out to be one of my favorite games.

HITANDRUN1931d ago

Next GEN? where is the wii-u? Oh wait I get it next gen, so not 360, ps3 or wiiu. Only pc, ps4 and 720 sounds like next gen I guess.

StraightPath1931d ago

Finished Witcher 2 on xbox 360 was a great game! Cant wait for this!

Stole pretty fast from Neogaf, didn't you? Haha.

Those details sound pretty good though.

Sp1d3ynut1931d ago

Don't you mean NeoGaf stole from GameInformer?

Optical_Matrix1932d ago

Hold me. In the thread on NeoGAF, someone managed to get a few details from a small preview of the digital version of the mag:

World supposedly 20% bigger than Skyrim's
30-40 minutes to cross world on Horseback
New streaming technology (CDRED Engine 3)
Geralt's Memory is restored
No chapters/acts
Dude is fucking DONE fighting for everyone else
Everything from solving MYSTERIES to slaying monsters
Coming out on "all top-of-the-line" consoles - I'd say that confirms next-gen is in.

It all sounds fantastic. So long as it keeps the strong narrative elements of The Witcher 2 then this game is going to take names next year. If Dark Souls II also releases in 2014...well...

nrvalleytime1932d ago (Edited 1932d ago )

Those details are actually in another article posted on here as well:

nrvalleytime1932d ago (Edited 1932d ago )

And one more update - this one confirms upcoming changes to graphic rendering:

"CD Projekt RED has provided the screenshots you see here from its current in-game assets running on its Internal PC development hardware. However, the renderer - the part of the engine that translates the game files into what you ultimately see on screen - is still in development and will boast significant improvements by the time The Witcher 3 ships. "Right now you see the game in the old renderer, but it's going to be taken to a truly next level," says gameplay producer Marek ZSiemak. In particular, the developers tell us that skin shaders and the dynamic lighting model will be markedly more advanced in the final version."

juandren1932d ago

Coming out on "all top-of-the-line" consoles - I'd say that confirms Wii U is out.

juandren1932d ago

That really sucks for Wii U owners. At the moment it doesn't seem to me like Nintendo will be on top again next-gen. The Wii had a much greater backing this gen because it was something fresh and every last developer wanted to experiment with the console and the motion controls. I feel sorry for Wii U owners, but I'm hoping Nintendo will give them their money's worth shortly
