Postcard Review: Damn it, Dissidia!

"When the original Dissidia came out, every fiber of my being exploded in explosive fandom joy. Not only do I get to play a Final Fantasy game, but I get to beat up Tidus again and again. It’s an exquisite amalgamation of what the fans would want in terms of crossovers and the spirit of the series.

Duodecim delivers more of the same, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s actually a good thing, mostly because they refine some of the battle mechanics, making some of the broken moves much more tolerable. The addition of new characters, especially fan favorites like Kain Highwind and Tifa Lockhart, add new flavor to the already ample roster.

In terms of plot, it does still feel a little contrived at times. Mostly in the overly convoluted execution of a plot line that ties all these heroes and villains together. But in the end, it’s more about being able to knock Sephiroth on his backside with a well timed Firaga from Terra."
