Pros and Cons of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX

GamerFitNation: When I heard that the new Kingdom Hearts game coming out, I was ecstatic. I later found out that it was only an HD re-release of the games everyone already had for the Playstation 3. The HD 1.5 ReMIX comes with the original Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts Re Chain of Memories; it no longer seemed as exciting till I noticed something; 2 hours and 50 minutes of every cutscene from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days is re-rendered in full 3D and HD. Is this really a good selling point though? Personally I love to play games, not watch them. It seems that Square is attempting to sell us a movie rather than a game.

The only issue i have is why are they remaking the cutscenes of the game, when they could have just waited to remake the game. It seems like a waste of resources imo.

I'm guessing because they didn't want to have low res CGI clips. And remaking the entire game would require much more money.

Still i'd rather them just skip it here and add a remake onto a more than likely kingdom hearts 2 hd remake, but i guess it something extra.

The only con is, its not kingdom hearts 3

The point of these collections is to get all of the titles on one home console for the first time ever. This way the story isn't too spread apart for KH3. Besides, most HD collections don't offer anything new, that's not the point of them. And would you guys really wait an extra year or more for them to port 358/2 days to the PS3? I think making it into HD cutscenes is a great idea.

have you ever seen those cut-scene collections of Uncharted series on Youtube? Without the gameplay portions is like watching a poorly edited movie where the story jumps from one place to the other without making any sense.

If i recall they are adding in more video where it will help keep it from feeling like it was just put together and slapped on a disc. So i don't think that will be a problem unless they don't do it very well.

They are even turning the little text bubble conversations into cutscenes as well, so it wont be like its just jumping from scene to scene. And last I checked KH is waaaaay more story/plot driven than the uncharted series and thus has way more scenes, and would actually be able to come across as a movie

The History of Kingdom Hearts Part 1: How A Disney Miracle Turned Into A Classic Franchise

Kingdom Hearts is a monolithic franchise that needs little introduction. But the beloved franchise almost never was, being developed as a gamble that two ideas could merge into something great.

Kingdom Hearts had these potentials with really deep atmospheres, then KH2 happened with the overwhelming weird informations and different people with tbe same enitity thing. It became overcomplicated series and never explaining anything in one release. Overall it is weirdly structured. Moreover, it is advetised to have Final Fantasy and Disney with original characters. Now it is all about versions of Sora/his friends and on other hand the versions of Xenoheart/his XIII thing.

Kingdom hearts 3 dlc complicated things even further

RPGer1155d ago

Literally didn't even care to buy it, 3 was a bug filler as a whole and the dlc is overpriced.

KH2 is a huge improvement over the first. With that said now that I think on it more it completely lost the charm that the original established. The mix of Disney and FF could work, there's a balance that can be found to give it it's own identity, but they went full stupid.
There's something so good, just really good, about seeing the Disney villains sitting at a round table plotting evil things together. I think that the balance was found in the original and they just threw it out the window with CoM and then ran it over with KH2.
