Kojima posted some comments about the two years Metal Gear Rising development and studios collaboration with Platinum. Overall, he is more than happy about the result and he thinks MGR is an Invention! Here're his comments:
I wouldn't say invention, but definitely something new for both Metal Gear and for action games and is sure to be nothing but amazing. Brings hack and slash with stealth elements and the "cut everything" plus blade mode features and some crazy looking boss battles to name a few (yet obvious) things. Been waiting too long for this game, but it's finally almost here.
I was well excited for this game until I played the demo. I'll have to give it another chance cos I didn't even finish it.
Thought the controls were kinda awkward and unintuitive and I would have liked to see a dedicated dodge button (like Vanquish). I think the voice acting and story are not going to live up to my expectations either. It's all so depressing that there will soon exist a Metal Gear game that I won't absolutely love :(
Counter > dodge. You never have to break the flow of combat with the counter and while it takes a little practice to full handle it makes everything about the combat so much better. The controls are traditional too for a hack n slash ( light attack, strong attack and grab) everything melds together very well honestly. Take time to learn the counter then beat the demo, it'll be worth it. Also, hint: for the counter do it the moment before you are going to be hit and it works every time.
Rising's one of those few games that are not First Person Shooters that I think would play better with Move rather than with a traditional controller.
But anyway, I think this was already posted....
Kojima Production + Platinum Games = mind blowing synergy!
I am very very happy for Kojima, Mikami, Kamiya et al.
Day One for my PS3!
Banzai Nippon!
"Here're"
I know it's "here are" but is Here're even a word mash up?
Apparently "Invention" in Japanese really means "boring re-skin of Vanquish and Bayonetta".
