MMGN: No matter which way you look at it, Sony is undoubtedly gearing up to unveil its plans for the successor to the PlayStation 3, starting with its February 20 “meeting”.
Here are five things it needs to be successful.
(PS4)
They aren't biased against nintendo. They are very successful here. Playstation products sell very well here in the US considering and you will never hear about it.
Sony needs to spread more money around IF they want to take a more mainstream approach here in the states.
MS giving many times more "gifts" to my gamestop employee friends is an example of how things work. This principle applies to the gaming media, etc. as well.
Sony will have to market more aggressively at launch or their competition will try to find a way to steal their hype. Actually, expect smear/doom articles to start rolling out any day now.
@clearlite because the American media don't see Nintendo as a hardcore gaming company to rival Microsoft...they see it as a kiddy company still putting out Mario's and kirbys etc
A timely launch date for this year. 15 to 20 games at launch across multiple genres. Price of console should be no higher than $499. Games to remain at $60 or lower. Aggressive marketing both online and televised.
I'm just wondering how anyone could give you a disagree, everything you listed seems perfectly sound.
Also, PS3 backwards compatibility is a great idea because it would enable them to support the system for years to come and people with only PS4 wouldn't miss out either.
Combining PS+ with Gaikai to bypass the BC issue, give people access to as much of the Playstaion's library over 15+ years, would be a nice thing to say the least.
Certainly wouldn't have the, "got no games" comment to fall on.
Except, given the licensing issues that have been going on this gen, don't expect to see the "entire" PS1/PS2/PS3 catalog available.
I saw that gif on twitter. I thought it was the funniest thing I ever seen, and then Reggie's face pops up.. I was probably choking for 5 minutes. Could not stop laughing. It really needs a soundtrack. What was that ID4?
The only thing they need to do is continue the momentum they build with the PS3 just now, and work from there.
Sony said this generation isnt a race but a maraton, they proved to be right. Microsoft wasn't able to put anything against Killzone's GFX GOW brutality or Uncharted's quality, nor PS+.
I think to be successful they just need to penetrate the US market. They own the third biggest movie studio in the world. I say they should work their magic a bit more there (kind of like Casino Royale, where he uses a VAIO laptop, a Sony Ericsson and a Blu-Ray drive). Make Spider-Man play some damn PS4 in the next one! To me it won't really mess up a movie if they have Peter Parker tell someone on the phone "I'm just playing PlayStation" or something like that. In fact it would put a smile on my face. That's just my opinion though
Naughty Dog Naughty Dog 2nd team Santa Monica Studio Polyphony Digital Sucker Punch/Insomniac/Guerilla Games/Sony Liverpool/Media Molecule/Sony Japan. Make it ten things.
It will be a great launch... I know some fantastic 1st party games are being worked on right now that will come out simultaneously with the console.. As long as there isnt a dry spell like PS3 for the first 6 months, it will be great
Now - We are looking for awesome people who are interested in testing the new N4G and other new services that are set to launch later this year. | Promoted post
