Which of These PlayStation 4 Controller Mock-Ups Is Your Favourite?

Push Square: "Sony is supposedly planning to debut a new controller alongside the PlayStation 4. While details about its size and shape are still under wraps, we do have a reasonable idea about what kind of new features the final device will include."

Honestly, none of them really. If I had to pick I would say combine the first and second ones in the article. That said, I'm hoping Sony makes the controller *slightly* larger overall and makes it a more ergonomic. I actually like the idea of a small touchpad on the controller depending on how it's used. For now, just give my concave analog sticks that are a bit tighter and some proper triggers...

i agree, all of the concepts look exasperatingly dumb. they look uncomfortable and hardly streamlined for actual real world gaming. not sure why if Sony did add a touch screen, the people making the concepts felt the touch screen Sony might make would be so intrusive to the rest of the controller. i highly doubt the controller will be that much of a departure, and i hardly think Sony will add a "smart phone" esque touchscreen. more like maybe some of the buttons may no longer be physical but heat sensitive "touch pad" like buttons instead.

once again it matters not if they change the controller at all if they doo i pray to god it is not big and bulky like the xbox . which im sure sony knows better. but i wouldnt mind if they took all that money it would take to improve the controller and put it towards the playstation 4 so they can increase my playstation 4 experience, even though the system will be a monster either way. next gen starts when ps4 is here

Yep. I hope they employed someone who knows what they are doing and had it tested extensively. Also, the smartest thing would be to allow ps3 controllers to work on it or sell one like it. The, if the new ones work welland are truely better ppl will get used to them. Otherwise, u can sink yourself. Especially in this day and age in which fps dominate. Maybe they added triggers and extended the length of the sticks. They can keep them parallel but close together. They must be light and fit with the hands. Otherwise, i dont care.

I saw one that was just a Dual Shock 3 with the Home, start and select button removed and replaced with the touch panal. I want that.

This one.

Would not be surprised if this is actually the one they use. But didn't they say the touch pad would be on the back?

PirateThom1181d ago

Maybe... but every mock up I have seen has the panal on the front.

I would be happy if they don't change the size/shape of the DualShock and just add a LCD at the place where the Start, Select & PS buttons are at place right now.

The first one isn't bad I just hope to hope itself that they're not going to put a bright flashing distracting screen on there. The little touch patch would be great but please Sony, please don't make it a little screen that glows at the bottom of my field of vision while I'm trying to concentrate on the TV. I get the feeling my plea shall be in vain and that the pad screen will become standard next gen.

If I were to design the touch screen, it would definitely be a removable snap-on/off type that comes standard on the new control pads so as to make the screen bigger but also thinner ( but not so much as to make it break ).

None of those featured are very ground-breaking in design/execution.
