"Designer David Gallant knew creating a game about his experience working at call centers might cost him his job, and then it actually happened." - Patrick Klepek

That sucks, because he didn't reveal what agency he worked for. If he had explicitly bad mouthed the agency, I would support them for firing him, but he didn't so they are in teh wrong, in my opinion.

thebudgetgamer4089d ago

That sucks, Harvey Pekar had a movie made about him.

I Get This Call Every Day Available on Steam After Multi-Year Wait

Hardcore Gamer: Some of you may recall I Get This Call Every Day. The autobiographical game, which shared the developer’s perspective as a call center employee, blew up and eventually led to his untimely firing from that position.

#GamerGate: ‘All Buyers On Desura Will Be Treated Equally’ States Desura

One Angry Gamer "A flurry of emotions went ripping through the ranks of the consumer revolt known as #GamerGate when the developer of the game I Get This Call Every Day, David S. Gallant, opted to prevent those supporting #GamerGate from receiving a Steam key if they paid for the game outside of Steam. Alternatively, everyone else who purchased the game outside of Steam will receive a Steam key. The digital distribution outlet, Desura, was not pleased with David S. Gallant’s actions."

OMG gamergater's are so terrible, how dare they not support discrimination against themselves. Mysogonerds. HURPDERP

FullmetalRoyale3421d ago (Edited 3421d ago )

"Mysogonerds"

That's very good. Did you say that?

It's perfect.

Kenshin_BATT0USAI3421d ago

Nah, I recall someone else seriously saying that. I can't remember who, but at the very least, it rolls off the tongue. xD

Amuro3421d ago (Edited 3421d ago )

At least "Desura" (whatever that is), have the decency of treating human beings as human beings. Glad there are people out there that aren't as vile as David S. Gallant.

Spotie3421d ago

Wow, really?

I'd have hoped developers would at least do their research before making such stupid decisions...though in respect if he HAD done his homework and still come to that conclusion, it would make him look even more stupid.

Morpheuzpr3421d ago (Edited 3421d ago )

Remember that what #GamerGate is fighting against is corruption and collusion in gaming "journalism". And who are they colluding with? Tan tan tan... video game developers.

Now I'm not saying that David is colluding but a lot of developers are afraid of the repercussions that associating with #GamerGate could cause to their careers.

rainslacker3421d ago

He's not colluding. His game was talked about for one day, made it's sales, then everyone moved on. He's just using GG as a way to promote his game and himself. This game released 2 years ago, and I'd be surprised if the masses ever heard of it, or him.

If he was professional he wouldn't of bothered to call out GG. His customers are his customers regardless of their affiliations, and they should be treated as such. IF he had problems with an individual being an actual harasser he could have called them out, but whatever.

I wouldn't call Anomaly 2 a indie title. But it's a game I really enjoyed playing lately.

TheUltimateGamer3777d ago

I was iffy to add it because it is beginning to make a name for itself but the "Anomaly" games certainly started as indie titles. Regardless, its a game that deserves more attention than it's gotten.

90's arcade racer is the indie title I am most looking forward to. I know its not on the list (as many know about it) but so little has been talked about it as of late.

i think it's still in development.......?

TheUltimateGamer3777d ago

Yessir! That looks like a lot of fun.. Last news was that they were at about 90% completion.

DAMN!!! this is even better than I expected. SEGA should get this guy on board to make this into an arcade game. it has "arcade quality" all over it.

Thanks for that info TUG.

Guacamelee is extremely well known. Especially since Sony gave it a lot of hype back in April as part of its spring collection.
