Something the author missed:

Street Fighter II was the first fighter to include "combos" (an unblockable chain of moves linked together). The thing is, it was an accident. CAPCOM didn't expect die-hard gamers to be able to perform moves so quickly, and since there was a glitch in the programming that allowed moves to chain into other moves, people were able to create a lot of killer moves. Thus, the combo was born.
