Why Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 are going to squash 'Grand Theft Auto V'

By now, just about everyone who follows gaming has heard about "Grand Theft Auto V" being delayed until September of this year, but this does not bode well for the Rockstar title.

Regardless of how invincible you think this game is, delaying "Grand Theft Auto V" until this coming September is a move that will ultimately injure the game's overall performance.

I like the sounds of that. I'm sure GTA 5 will be amazing, but I'm just concerned about the effect next-gens will have. Probably just over thinking it, since those are some big time titles.

I say it's going to be the other way around. Whilst hardcore gamers on sites like N4G may invest in new hardware site unseen the general public(those who make games like COD and GTA 20 million copies sellers) are motivated by games.

When the public see GTA5, COD, Madden and Fifa coming out on the current generation they're going to ask themselves "What's the point in buying a new system right now?". It affected the Wii U and PS4 and 720 being a lot more powerful won't magically make them immune to this affect.

Just look how well the PS2 was doing when the 360 launched or even a year later when the PS3 and Wii launched. The biggest competition next gen will have early in their lives is this gen.

Well i wont be buying gta 5 as much as i want it but saving for next gen, watch dogs will cover my open world needs when i get my new console, might get gta 5 in a steam sale instead of for my ps3 though

A console's best games often come out at the end of its lifetime, while launch titles for a new console are usually little more than glorified tech demos for a system that no one knows quite what to do with.

The GTA 5 Agent Trevor DLC episode could have been a real treat for fans on PlayStation and Xbox, before it was scrubbed sometime before 2017.

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all

This fly by feature was on the cutting room floor due to the random plane crashes and it's one of those things I'm so thankful made it into the final version as these random fly by and crashes make the world seem more alive on the extremely limited PS2 hardware you needed everything you could possibly get in a open world to convey that feeling.

And accross hundreds of hours of gameplay I probably died around 3 times as a result of these fly by failures but I loved every time it happened

It made the world feel more human, and honestly kinda insane that even today with all these open world games, almost no one can capture that like R* even when compared to their ps2 games
