Glitch Cat - Kyntt Underground can be a lot of fun on some occasions, but most of the time it gets dull and boring with all the backtracking and fetch quests. I did enjoy the backgrounds and ambiance of the game, but everything else was lacking. The auto wall-grab mechanic didn’t help either. But if you’re looking for a Metroidvania-styled platformer, this would be the game for you. I’d only recommend it to the die-hard platformer fans out there, as there’s some fun and challenge to be had, but to the general public I say look elsewhere for a fun platform experience.
Hardcore Gamer: For $2, you can get Postal, Expeditions: Conquistador, Knytt Underground, Blockland, Steel Storm: Complete Edition, and Rock of Ages.
Nintendo Insider writes:
It is in discovery that Knytt Underground manages to excite by luring your curiosity throughout its entirety. Broody and evocative, Nifflas signals the emerging rise of the indies on the Nintendo eShop, crafting experiences that rival even the platform holder’s lofty creations.
Matt of RGN writes, "Knytt is at its core, a 2D platformer, but adds a large world to explore and gives the player abilities to solve puzzles and advance throughout the world, allowing the character to dash, fly and teleport, among other powers. Each chapter of the game involves different aspects of gameplay, with the first being an introduction to the main character, the second focused on a ball form, and the third combining both together. While frustrating at times during the beginning as you figure out how each power works and controls, once you’ve got the hang of it, Knytt Underground is absolutely hard to put down and each place you explore is a fun experience."
