I was just playing it recently. This truly is an entertaining game with a rather good storyline. I recommend all those who enjoy open world games to give it a shot. Trust me you'll come out thinking "wow why did i skip this sleeper hit?"

Knight_Crawler4093d ago (Edited 4093d ago )

It was ok but I would not not call it a sleeper hit.

While it did take the best parts from Saints Row and Grand Theft and combined into one game it still lacked anything that would set it apart from SR and GTA.

I was really expecting this game to be like Shenmue but improved on what we would have expected from Shenmue 2 but after graduating from a messenger boy to a crime boss I felt that the game did not have much to offer.

Edit: It was a nice first attempt by the developers but hope they get a bigger budget next time...also the music it the game did not help, understand that its not a game based in America but Asian music did not do it for me.

this games was originaly true crimes but activision cancelled it and square asked if they could continue it but they had to use a different name use a search engine to find out

Sandmano4093d ago

Good thing I didnt miss this sleeper hit the story was amazingly entertaining and the whole package with gameplay was brilliant.

Flandy4093d ago

For a second I thought this was for SCEA :(

Jobesy4093d ago (Edited 4093d ago )

Title should be "Free For PS+ Members", not "PSN Players". How did this get approved?

Y_51504093d ago

Yeah and it should also say "EU PS+ players"

BLAKHOODe4093d ago

I thought Europe PS+ got this free last month.

Megaton4093d ago

Great game. Top 3 of 2012, IMO. Enjoy it.

krisq4093d ago

Easily one of the most entertaining games I played last year.

StreetsofRage4093d ago

Must play!!!

One of the better open world crime games to come out in a long time. I'm a GTA fan but this was better than GTA4. Better gameplay and better story. Just a few minor things here and there needed to make this game a masterpiece. Can't wait for the sequel.

It's A Crime That There's No Sleeping Dogs 2 Yet

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Sleeping Dogs from the early 2010s is one of the best open-world games out there but in dire need of a resurgence."

LG_Fox_Brazil3d ago

I agree, I consider the first one a cult classic already

isarai3d ago

You say "yet" as if it's even possible anymore. United Front Games is gone, along with anyone that made this game what it is

CrimsonWing692d ago

That’s what happens when games sell poorly. And I’ve seen people wonder why people cry when a game sells badly… this is your answer.

solideagle2d ago

Majority of the time it's true but if a company/publisher is big (in terms of money), they can take a hit or 2. e.g. I am not worried about Rebirth sales as Square will make Remake 3 anyway but if FF 17 doesn't sell then Square might need to look for alternative. <-- my humble opinion

Abnor_Mal2d ago

Doesn’t Microsoft own the IP now since they acquired Activision?

DaReapa2d ago

No. Square Enix owns the IP.

Abnor_Mal2d ago

Oh okay, Activision owned True Crime, but when that didn’t sell as intended it was canceled. Six months later Square Enix bought the rights and changed the title to Sleeping Dogs.*

*As per Wikipedia

Sleeping Dogs was a sleeper hit back then. It was fantastic. It actually still is. Would love a sequel to this, or at least a revive of True Crime series.

watching the video is better then going through 31 pages of gamingbolt.

Do they explain in the video why there are two numbers 3? Starfield and Tears of the Kingdom?

It's always refreshing to see games embracing the streaming community.

Bloodborne is a game I still restart and play every few months. I would welcome just a re release in 60fps with a visual upgrade. It's a perfect game. If I was king for a day I would include the randomizer mods because then it would be a kind of rogue like and I could play it forever.

gleepot349d ago

Sure, ill take a sequel to all of these.
