CD Projekt RED’s REDengine 3 Detailed, Promises To Blur The Line Between CGI and Real-Time Visuals

DSOGaming writes: "CD PRojekt RED has released some new details (and technical information) about the third version of its REDengine. As said, the REDengine 3 is the third iteration of CD Projekt RED’s in-house technology. It is created for RPGs set in vast open-worlds with improved tools for spanning truly nonlinear stories that are based on real player choices and consequences." (CD Projekt RED, Dev, PC)

Update An image from this new engine has been added but due to N4G's rules, do not report the other stories as dupe of this. The image was added when those stories have been already submitted

That screenshot is probably taken right out of the Witcher 3.
Can't wait for that trailer, 4 more days...

i am sorry but if that screenshot is from current gen then it's beautiful, if it's next gen then it's disappointing..

What's so disappointing about them pics, both games are a year or more away still. That's why this gen kind of sucks, its all about graphics and not about story and gameplay.

Last gen trees.

How do you know The Witcher III is a year or more away? Cyberpunk is a given, in fact we might not get it for about 2-3 years but no-one knows a thing about The Witcher III just yet and it could very well release by the end of this year.

CDP is designing their game engine for both high graphical fidelity and deep story+gameplay elements. It's not just about pretty pictures when comes to CDP.

you're gonna be extremely disappointed with next gen consoles then.

How can a studio so small do something so impressive? Bioware needs to take notice. Infact the big boys, EA, Activision,Ubi etc need to look at these guys.

guys honestly, i'm not a graphics w**re but i mean come on...

What do you mean ?
Angainor7  +   1033d ago
tell me honestly, do you think that this picture by the looks of it, is current or next gen? honestly. watch the trees, watch textures etc... what's your opinion from what you see?
fossilfern  +   1033d ago
considering its a small image and it seems to be stretched slightly yes it does look better than current gen. And do you really think Redengine 3 would look worse than Redengine 2? Look at Witcher 2 running max on PC.
