Killzone: Mercenary Concludes a Killer Week for PS Vita

Push Square: "It’s not been the best first year for the PlayStation Vita. Shunned in its home territory and disregarded overseas, the powerful portable has struggled to secure a foothold in the brutal video game market. But there have been signs this week that the system is not dead and buried yet, and while there’s still a long road ahead for the machine, at least it’s starting to form the foundations of an impressive library." (Killzone Mercenary, PS Vita)

best looking handheld game ever?

I'm struggling to think of anything that looks better. Uncharted: Golden Abyss and LittleBigPlanet Vita are probably the closest -- but I think this looks better.

yeah, it even looks better than some console first person shooters

How about Phantom Pain ? ;) haha (slightly kidding)

LBP.. What? Not sure if LBP counts as a graphically intensive game. Sure it looks great but it is nothing like Uncharted:GA, Need For Speed: Most Wanted or AC3: Liberation's all games that show far more prowess than LBP.

The vita has converted a few haters with killzone.... I've seen no trolls on any killzone articles...what's really scary tho, is this is before E3. This week feels like a baby E3 for vita owners. Can't wait to see what E3 has in store for the vita.

This is almost definitely PS Vita's turnaround. Fairly impressive turn of events. KZ: Mercenary has made bewildered believers out of many, and Tearaway was always going to be the killer app. I've always thought i was amusing to see the same treatment of Vita as it was with PS3. Look at what was said about PS3 and look what happened. Look who's right again.

All Sony has to do is push these games, and just bring out more, which I can't see not happening. Soul Sacrifice later this year, Phantasy Star Online 2 in the near future. The awesome looking Dokuro and Guacamelee front the downloadables. PS Vita in my pocket, just like 3DS. Good times!

Can people stop calling video games apps? I hate to be a dick but that is really annoying. Only in this day and age, all these trendy new ways to describe something..

They are games, they aren't applications.

Edit to your comment - Wrong doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. You clearly don't know the difference between a application and a video game. No shit a game has applications running within it and code that all ties into that but it still does not do what an application does nor would classify as one when it's a finish video game not a finished application.

I called it a "Killer app" which is a widely used and genuine computing term that can be used to describe software for computers dating all the way back to the 1980s.

An application is software that applies itself to hardware in order to run. Video games narrow down to executables at the end of the day. Some might be housed on a physical disc, but they all run as code on machines designed to run it. They are applications. Just because you dislike the modern implication of an app, doesn't mean that it negates what a video game is.

This is all beside the point anyway, this is about PS Vita, not what games are or aren't.
