The Best and Worst of 2012 Kinect Games

4Player-"It was a year of laughter, tears and shame as I exposed myself to the best and worst games for the Kinect. While my Friday nights had devolved into wearing depraved costumes, inebriation and yelling at the TV, I found some real gems for games using a peripheral people all have but discounted. There were many surprises, both good and bad, that actually made the time, and lost brain cells, worth the effort. Without further adieu, I present to you the best and worst games to come out for the Kinect in 2012." (Xbox 360)

I have to agree its just like the Wii WiiU and PS Move. Also fun when you have friends round with a few drinks down you.

The year of 2012 was not a good year for the Kinect. Nearly every game that relied on the Kinect for controls failed miserably. Dragonball Z Kinect, Kinect Star Wars, Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor, and Fable: The Journey were all failures last year. After Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor, many critics and gamers called it quits on the Kinect. I don't know what Microsoft will be planning next, but they have to do one of two things with the Kinect: 1) Fix up the Kinect so that it actually works or 2) jump ship while you still can.

Actually kinect had a really good year. That is of course unless good you mean reviewed highly by critics. They moved a bunch of units and sold a bunch of low cost games and experimented and tightened up kinect.

The truth is MS is no longer pushing kinect to the core gamers this gen. If you payed any attention you would have recognized they put no marketing budget behind Steel Battalion and Fable the journey. They put some money behind Star wars and its over 1 million sold. And if you read user reviews from consumers (not the motion control poisoned core gaming bubble) you would see that people that actually own and play kinect games as consumers really like them. Steel Battalion and Fable TJ are some of my favorite experiences this gen.

MS will just wait until next gen and put the added muscle behind the products while they promote their new system. I am a real gamer and I honestly feel that once core gamers get a real understanding of kinect they will love it.

With that said devs need to start approaching kinect game differently. Its to different of a control system to use regular design for the games.

True that sales were very good for Kinect. The games, however, did not live up to performance once many people actually played it. It's not just critics who lambasted the Kinect games. I have talked to many gamers and have experience with the Kinect myself. Many are sick of it.

As soon as people bought certain games or the Kinect brand new, Microsoft made a profit. That is the up side and would result in it being a good year for profit, but performance of the Kinect and its games were poor.

If your product sells a lot in one year, then you are making profit; however, if the performance of said product is lacking, then it will suffer with both critics and potential consumers. No one is going to want to buy it when they hear of all of the problems it causes. So the Kinect and Kinect games did well financially, but failed in reception.
