Competence is the watchword for Lost Odyssey. There's nothing really wrong here - but there's not much remarkable either. It's the result of some truly great talents treading water, going through motions they've been through hundreds of times before. Because of that it's an accomplished experience, at times a beautiful one, and there's a lot of depth and content to get through. But it has no capacity to surprise, locked in a pattern over two decades old and firmly fixed to its roots.
Mistwalker is a studio bursting with talent - let's hope that their next 360 title gives that talent a bit more of a free rein.
