PS Plus will carry over to the PS4, "Here to stay"
GB: This is kind of obvious, but if you end up buying a 12 month PS Plus subscription, you also get 3 months free, so the question now is that this will overlap with next generation where Sony’s PS3 successor will be most likely be released.
(Next-Gen, PS3, Tag Invalid)
I am sure its next week? Entering the Plus Service in February: 6th February: Sleeping Dogs 6th February: Quantum Conundrum 6th February: F1 Race Stars 13th February: WipEout 2048 20th February: Lumines Electronic Symphony http://blog.eu.playstation.... yep it is
your psn account will transfer to your ps4?? Can you imagine how rapid the ps4 purchase growth would be if you see a free ps4 game available for download!!?? that would totally lure people into buying one right away! :-D
I'm usually a multi-plat guy, but time and money are becoming scarce for me lately. For this reason, I will be only buying PS4 initially because of all the free PS Plus content. I have so many free games downloaded on my PS3, it could keep me busy for months without ever buying a game if I wanted to. Such a good deal.
I pretty sure we're more hyped for the PS4, since we've heard next-to-nothing about Durango. Also, M$ has so few games that we can only use our imaginations for launch titles.
To this, Morgan Haro, PSN community manager, replied: “PS Plus is here to stay, so you can take advantage of the offer with confidence.”
That could simply mean it's not going anywhere for 10 years at least, because by now (if people have been following Sony) you should know that the PS3 has a ten year lifecycle. Article after article after article over the years got so many things wrong simply because they didn't factor that in.
Ps+ will definitely move over to the PS4 but this comment is deliberately vague because they'll probably be uncertain whether they can actually launch the PS4 with PS+. Just think logically here: Where would the library come from?

It will just be PS3 stuff for mean time an discount on DLC for the PS4. It will carry over (too big not to) and I think it will be at launch to get those early buyers
I agree the statement is vague because you don't want a Sony website admitting a PS4 is coming. They just do not do that
The problem is that BC hasn't been confirmed. Now it would be wise for Sony to delay that BC if they want strong PS3 sales for the next two or three years. Unless they have other options of course (of which there are many through Gaikai). We'll just have to wait and see. Like you said though, they're not going to want to subliminally announce the PS4. People who wait, won't buy a PS3.
I never meant BC. I actually think it will be similar to getting PS2 titles through the store. I may not be able to play PS2 disc games but I can buy some games through the store and I can see Sony doing the same next generation. Also Gaikai will have an impact
@gribbleGrunger Backward compatibility may not be available for disc base games but for digital download it is a very high possibility. Remember, the aquisition of Gaikai will play a big part in PS4 PS plus offering. Imagine what Sony can do with the possibilities. Sony can allow all PS Plus member stream free game from Gaikai, but im pretty sure the subscription fee for the PS plus probably increase. But if i get to stream games from gaikai and still get the PS plus perks of free games then im willing to pay the extra money.
I think it will have more online features to make up for it. And they may have one PS4 game a month and the rest PS3/PSN games and slowly phase them out.
If they keep online free but offer people cross game chat, even private lobbies, and cloud saving as part of plus I'd be happy.
PS+ is and PSN service not an PS3 service, even the Vita get the benefits. Waiting for the next article which will be about "Neflix service to remain on PS4", etc.
What people will do for site hits, just stating the obvious.
I thought the same when Vita launched it. Hasn't happened yet.
They will probably just phase out PS3 games for PS4 games if it gets to much to handle. Either way, I'll buy a PS4 when PS+ hits it, if that's at launch or 6 months to a year later.
Remember.. most of the games offer for free are old games that are not selling in retail stores. This is just speculation. Sony charges $50 for PS plus subscription. They offer Gravity rush for free. So for every gravity rush game downloaded, they have to give the developers a share. Let say that share is about 15% (because there no need for packaging fee and advertisement fee of the 50 of the subscription fee. You have to remember that developers will paying Sony to have their games on the PSN store as well so it all works out. Most gamers will be more willing to buy DLC's when they get the game for free. Sony will gain some money for every subscription, it might not be a lot but at the end it pays off. you get more PS3 adopters which will increase hardware sales and software sales. The chances of early adopters of PS3 who are willing to pay for the PS plus subscription fee are very high.
I fully expect it to carry over, you cant start a service like this toward the end of a generation and not expect them to keep going with it. Besides the Plus is tied to your SEN ID/PSN ID so as long as you keep the same account when you log in it should all be there.

It's a really great service.
This special deal where you can get a year + three extra months (for free) is great!
There's a reason there's way more hype for the next Playstation than the next Xbox. But both are really anticipated!

I would be amazed if the price DIDN'T rise but I personally wouldnt have a problem so long as it was reasonable. Still great VFM.
so lets say that was true that be 10+4+4= 18 free games

So you can support a company that has brought you oodles of enjoyment over the years.
This is being done to counter Microsoft's announcement that Xbox LIVE accounts will carry over to the Xbox 720.
