Everyone laughed at the PS3 at the start of the generation; just about nobody believed it would end up outselling the competition. Yeah...what now?
"But anyway, I'm just wondering where all those skeptics are who flooded forums and communities around the 'Net, saying the PS3 wouldn't only be in dead last this generation, it'd be so far behind you wouldn't even be able to see it. ...mm-hm. What say you now, haters?" I've been reading psxextreme articles/reviews for years and this is probably the most immature thing I've ever read on this site.
psxextreme have always had 250 words or less garbage articles. I'm recall them doing worse.
Certain people had no problem with immature attacks on the PS3 (FOR YEARS), pictures of it looking like the George Foreman grill, pictures of it with tomatoes slammed against it, or articles about Sony going out of business written with little other than college humor. Now suddenly when everything for which they cheered turns out to be wrong, dead wrong and they are standing there with mud on their faces the humor has apparently left the argument. It's hypocritical to say the least and for me personally it's downright funny to watch those that love to dish it out yet are unable to take it. It is also laughable to watch logic squirm and have a tantrum. It's called comeuppance and I for one think it is time for these people that are suddenly having to take the verbal whipping though so liberally doled out to put on their big girl panties and stand there and take it. Or else just run away and hide altogether. But whatever the decision crying out loud over hurtful articles is pathetic and is the real immature act in this entire matter.
"this is probably the most immature thing I've ever read on this site." On n4g or psxextreme? There's a lot worse on n4g.
I meant psxextreme lol. It's surprising to me because Ben's articles are usually rational and well put together.
there is alot more worse fanboys on system wars-gamespot the most wrong and immature place you could ever go to
Obviously trolling the usual suspects. Tit for tat if you will. @CalvinKlein below... U mad.
Considering that back then game journalism was full of wild speculation, somehow less than now if such is believable, depending on the hour if not second every article from every site on NG4. When many of those same sites weren't saying MS would dominate or Sony would go under.
"just about nobody believed it would end up outselling the competition." That's because it didn't. Wii says hi.
History repeats itself. Thanks to its lifeblood, the awesome games, he platform that lasts longer wins for any hobby gamer - the investment on the hardware is well returned.
Try telling that to the people who bought Call of Duty on 360 because their friend had it or bought the Wii because Monster Hunter was a favorite series of theirs, yet they never give Dark Souls/Demon Souls a shot. There are people who cannot and will not be persuaded into buying a PS3, no matter what. I'm telling you. People don't have an open mind about these things, for the most part. I bought a PS3, a 360, and a Wii this generation. The only one I currently own is the PS3. Why? There are GAMES to play on it. Ni No Kuni is the best JRPG since the PS2 days and possibly the best RPG this generation. Games! Free online play! PlayStation Plus! Vita cross-buy! These are all wonderful things. People just don't understand that though. They won't think about it. Edit: Sly Cooper:TinT, God of War: Ascension, Until Dawn, and The Last of Us are coming up. That's only a few exclusives from the FIRST half of the year. Beyond and Puppeteer are around the corner. Vita users have Tearaway, Killzone: Mercenary, and Soul Sacrifice for this half of the year. God knows what's going on in the second half!
I did, actually. I didn't think it would take this long though. Sony has TONS of first party studios. They buried MS years ago, as far as exclusives are concerned. It turns out...people don't really care about having tons of quality games. They really only want a couple. For every Wii owner who bought Super Mario Galaxy, Kirby's Epic Yarn, and Muramasa (All fantastic titles)...there were one-thousand who played Wii Sports and called it a day. Kinect kept the 360 steam rolling, too. Do you know how many used Kinects we have at my store? Enough that we haven't bought a single one from a customer since last summer.
I did its playstation. 360 sales are from RROD.
Considering the huge marketshare advantage Sony had over Microsoft last generation, I'd hardly call the battle this gen "coming out on top". The 360 is the dominant console (by far) in North America, and worldwide sales of the two systems are neck and neck. That is a win for Microsoft this gen, again, considering their position with the original Xbox. And considering the red ring fiasco, that is pretty amazing. Who wins this gen/next gen is anyone's guess, and that is not a statement I ever would have thought possible in the heyday of the PS2.
I did. It was pretty obvious.
