The Injustice Comic Prequel Explains Why Superman and Batman Are Fighting (Again)

Kotaku: It's become a recurring trope that the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight beat each other up when things go terribly wrong in the DC Universe. The big difference in each of these brawls is the catalyst for the conflicts. As shown in a comic-book prequel releasing tomorrow, the reason for the World's Finest fallout in Injustice: Gods Among Us is a doozy.

We already know that Wonder Woman, Green Arrow and the rest of the Justice League aren't superfriends any more in the upcoming fighting game. What we don't know is why the heroes have come to blows. Check out this preview of the Injustice comic series—which collects the digital-first stories by writer Tom Taylor and artist Jheremy Raapack—to see a time when everybody's still buddy-buddy. But a certain smiling face sets events into motion that will have a devastating effect on the good guys. Injustice: Gods Among Us #1 hits comics shops and digital storefronts tomorrow.
