Dark Souls II: Shibuya on the gameworld, awkwardness and accessibility

EDGE - One half of the directorial duo behind Dark Souls II, Tomohiro Shibuya clearly has more than a passing interest in fashion. He sports stylishly layered hair, his jeans are ornamented with faux-stencilled graffiti, and the shirt he’s got on displays a black-and-white photograph of a woman reclining on a sofa while wearing nothing but black gloves. One arm conceals her breasts, while a strategically positioned cushion keeps the image just softcore enough to ensure it remains tantalising without being pornographic. The composition of the photo is designed to tease viewers, and to kindle their curiosity.

And yet again they talk about the person, which I am not interested in, rather than putting the product in the foreground of the discussion.

Dark Souls 2: Uncharted Edition. A more straight forward story is not what I wanted. One of the best features of the Souls games was how subtle the story was. If you wanted to know more you had to work for it, nothing was spoon fed to you.

This is yet another interview that leaves me greatly displeased.

Too much story does not suit the series, it has to stay "subtle", like you wrote.

Well that was interesting... So is anyone else genuinely concerned that this new dev team is going to mess up Dark Souls II?

Demons Souls had some strange magic aura, do not know why precisely, it felt like something really fresh, coming out of nowhere. Dark Souls lost some of the magic, although they did not change much the formula and the new one sure does not spread the same magic aura as demons did. Maybe they should have left it by one game ...

I hope the world design is more like the first game if not I am going to pass on this one.
