10 first-party GameCube games we'd love to see in HD

GameZone: "Nintendo recently announced that The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker was being remade for the Wii U. Let’s take a look at a few GameCube favorites that we’d love to see get the HD treatment." (Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, GameCube, Luigi's Mansion, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Pikmin, Star Fox Adventures, Super Mario Sunshine, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Wii U)

Definitely Eternal Darkness. I'd also love to see Fire Emblem on there.

Personally I'd rather have a new Eternal Darkness. I loved the sanity meter but I felt it was too easy to keep filled. Unless I let it run low I never saw the cool "glitches".

Edit: But of course it's obvious everyone would prefer a new one to a remake :)

I loved eternal darkness, but i would rather see Mario Sunshine in HD. Its world is much brighter and would look much more astonishing than Eternal Darkness.

Really great list!

i would just like to see some new games.. Not old ones remade

I see where you're coming from, and I agree that new games would be great, but I also wouldn't mind a few favorites in HD.

The one Remake that WE NEED is F-zero GX. That game looked immense running at 60FPS on Gamecube with all those people on the track.

Now imagine that game given the ''windwaker reborn'' treatment with an online mode added in ?

God I need some F-zero now. I bought GX the day it launched like a decade ago and I still play it to this very day.

@TheSanchezDavid- Indeed especially gamecube games. Not enough people got to try some of the sublime content offered on the gamecube. Some of the games on that system are underated gems. They need to get Upscaled Gamecube games playable on gamepad with miiverse added on the Wiiu VC asap.

I want to see Captain Falcon get his own adventure game. It's about time he steps out his vehicle and starts owning mfers, Falcon punches for all.

Chibi Robo? Looks like Nintendo did try to introduce new IP's. But as usual, some catch on and others don't.

"Intelligent" people agree about Eternal Darkness in HD.

Probably won't play it again- 2 play thrus already- but I would want others too.
I also want SK saved (back w/ Nintendo too).

If they added more content- like the cut levels for ex. the Templar.

Definitely Mario Sunshine, and Twilight Princess. Maybe even Star Fox Adventures. I'd much rather see Metroid Prime though.

3rd party games? Star Wars: Rogue Squadron!

Tales of Symphonia!

Brilliant game system.

I know it's not first party, but the Rogue Squadron games need a HD re-release. To this day they look graphically impressive, and feature aerial combat gameplay the likes of which have not been seen this gen.
Also Viewtiful Joe, another unique game from last gen that would scale well to HD, and maybe a proper HD version of RE4. Given that those latter two games are from Capcom, I'm not getting my hopes up. LucasArts isn't much better when it comes to pleasing the fans (how can we not have had a decent lightsaber game by now when two consoles have the perfect controllers for it!!!)

Imagine the crazy Sanity effects that could be added to the game. How terrifying would it be if the game tricked you into thinking that your GamePad was broken?

I cn see it now the websites would be a blaze with people blaming nintendo for broken gamepads.

But I think they should let MS remake starfox dinausor island can you imagine that oh my lord.

ahah, I liked your idea. I'm imagining myself trying to tap something on the touchscreen and failing, it would drive me nuts xD
Murad  +   600d ago
Why are all of these titles related to Mario some-way, or titles that seem to be famous titles? Why not put Fire Emblem on the list, or even MGS Twin Snakes, or even Tales of Symphonia. All of these games deserve far more recognition than those on that list.
TheSanchezDavid  +   599d ago
Keyword: first-party. Those are all great games you mentioned, but I was sticking to Nintendo-published titles for the list. As for Fire Emblem which is Nintendo-owned, I thought about it, but I figured I'd only list games that can have slightly altered controls and improved mechanics. I'm not sure anything could be changed about the way Fire Emblem played. Seriously, though, that's easily one of my favorite GameCube games.
Murad  +   599d ago
O whoops, you are right, I think my mind we went over the first-party idea and concept.
DEATHxTHExKIDx  +   600d ago
Tales of symphonia
MaleManSam  +   600d ago
F yes to Twilight princess, It's my favourite and really is one of the best games ever imo. It really deserves a rebuild or even a HD port if they're lazy. Obviously I hope for the former not the latter.

Luigi's Mansion was fun, but it was such a short game... bonus content would be nice for it.

One game not on the list is Animal Crossing. That game was more addictive than heroin.

Reading this article makes me so glad I still own a GameCube.
One of my fav consoles ever.

I still remember picking mine up on launch day at GameStop and driving home with it.
Sure it might not have had the biggest library of games during its cycle but it still has some of the best games ever made.

And I'm playing luigi's mansion as I type this :)
