Hope is Not Lost for a Majora’s Mask Remake

ZI writes: I’m sure you’ve heard by now, unless you live under a rock, that The Wind Waker is getting a pretty nifty looking HD remake on the Wii U. Exciting right? Evidently not according to Gerg B. of Leviathyn. In fact, he says it spells doom for the chances of a Majora’s Mask remake happening! While never saying it directly, he believes it could just be the final nail in the coffin for the title.

But is it really the final nail in the coffin? Games are commonly remade all the time. Final Fantasy III, Dragon Quest VII, and even Persona. It’s a common business practice so games can appeal to certain audiences. Of course though, the Wind Waker was well established for its platform, the Gamecube, and its visuals are often seen as timeless. Putting the Wind Waker on the 3DS would more than likely damage these visuals greatly. However, the same doesn’t necessarily work for Majora’s Mask. (3DS, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, Wii U)

Majora's Mask is coming on 3DS. It will be unveiled alongside a new Zelda game for 3DS at this years E3.

Majora's Mask Remake/New zelda game 3DS , Windwaker Remake/New zelda game wiiu.

My prediction. Think about it , it would be stupid to Put ocarina 3D on 3DS and Not MM too. The modern Zelda games post windwaker will end up on Wiiu. Twlight princess remake in 2 years...

I really don't think Nintendo are striving to be milking the Zelda franchise in such an obvious way.

If they announced a new Zelda for 3DS as well as a Majora's Mask remake, AS WELL as showing the Wind Waker HD for Wii U it's gonna start seeming like they sold out on the franchise.

I agree, I think that Majora's Mask is going to get a remake for 3DS, since they pretty much have all the assets done for it with OoT3D.

I don't think that we're close to it being announced. Wind Waker HD was announced to hold us over since the next Zelda is going to take a very long time to make. The 3DS game should be nearing completion at this point. They'll probably just announce that game, and at a later date announce Majora's Mask.....but that's just my opinion

Ocarina & Majora's Mask were made on the same game engine.

* Therefore because the work has been done to optimize Ocarina on the 3DS, it makes sense that the same could be done for MM since they are now familiar with how to do it, and the fact that both games are similar so it wouldn't take them as long to do it.

I've played a relatively small part of this game up to the point where you play hide and seek with those kids in town. So far it hasn't captivated me like some of the others in the series, but it must have something going for it given the praise it gets.

Chasing the kids around town is still technically the tutorial level to get you used to the controls and the three-day system. Once you get past the first three days the game really starts.
