[GAMINGtruth] Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Demo Impressions

GAMINGtruth's own Editor-in-Chief throws in his two cents about the next Metal Gear title that is currently playable in the Xbox LIVE Marketplace:

"The game suffers from identity crisis. It wants to appeal to both Metal Gear fans and followers of action games, but unless Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is able to pull a magic trick from its hat after release, it will end up satisfying neither." (Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Xbox 360)

I loved the demo. Thought it was a blast. After playing it this game is very much on my radar.

"The game is slow, the action is dull"

Did we play the same demo? lol

All I had to do was read the guy saying Parry only works 50% of the time.. Then repeated it again after saying he failed the boss 4 times in a row..

LOL I didnt even die once first 3 times I played the demo

It's fun as hell but I can't understand how to parry ;_;

You gotta push the left stick forward (or maybe facing your enemy) at the same time you press square. Quite easy once you get the hang of it, and you can start pulling off some crazy combos lol
You should give the demo another go, the parry adds a lot to it

I can´t understand why some people say that this game is not for MG fans. I´m a fan and i cant wait for this game to come out. When i read articles like this it feels like some people only play one type of game and doesn´t venture on others genres. Just because you are a MG fan doesn´t mean you can´t apreciate a good hack n slash. This writer mentioned GoW, so why would he run from the Geckos legs when orange, isn´t he familiar with the hack n slash genre? If he his, sure doesn´t look like it, he totally missed the point of the demo. And with a little research he would know that the Raiden in the demo has already some moves upgraded , and throughout the game we can upgrade some more. I´m personally hoping for a double jump move ( the demo felt empty without it ), and from earlier videos of this game we could see a type of wall run.
This demo has some flaws, there´s no denying it, but the overall potential of the final build is looking pretty good.

Whoever wrote this has no idea how to play this game. Totally uninformed and lame.

yep you better learn how to play the game to enjoy it
really good game by the way

The demo could have explained the mechanics so much better. From the standpoint of discoverability the DmC demo was much better than this one. There are a few useful moves that the demo just does not tell you about. The demo also should have had one or two more good sized encounters to make it easier to get a feel for the game.

This game was never intended to be a stealth game even in its' previous incarnation where it had "lightning bolt action" as the superscript. The dev team has been very upfront about all of this, I wish people would pay more attention before writing these articles.

I am actually a bit concerned that the game will be too easy, but from what I can tell even if it is too easy it will feel very good to play.

I remember playing through Metal Gear Solid 4 and just sitting in front of my T.V. in awe of the cutscenes involving Raiden fighting gekkos and then Vamp. I really wanted to play those scenes and not just watch them. With Revegeance I can, and I think that's pretty awesome.

I have no worries about this game. If Kojima is impressed so much with it that he wants to work with Platinum Games again, then I'm sure I won't be able to put it down. It will satiate my Metal Gear fix until Ground Zeroes comes out later this year.

I only judge a game when i master it . that way no one can reject my opinion because im better then them in the game so if i said the game sucks i have good reasons but when im sucks at it the only reason is that my mind cant handle that game so it's not fair to judge it

I don't know if y'all noticed, but GAMINGtruth isn't the only one "disliking" the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance demo. Take a look around.

Please. This was a pretty poor "impressions" piece to begin with. Parrying works only 50% of the time? How does the author think this game is "shockingly simple" when he can't even get the hang of blocking?

"The beginning story sequence of the demo explains more, but it really can be skipped. Unless you want to witness even more evidence that the Japanese have no clue how black people are supposed to act." - What?

"Perhaps I wasn’t doing it right, but I don’t believe you can aim with the grenades." - You could aim grenades by simply holding down another button before throwing, just like many other games out there.

"The boss has an instant takedown move that’s difficult to dodge, even if you’re running away." - You can parry every one of those moves.

It's pretty apparent that this person didn't spend much time with this demo, not enough time to write a thorough impression of it anyway. Why bother even writing this if you're not going to put some effort into it? It's just lazy.
