Organizers have revealed the finalists for the 13th annual Game Developers Choice Awards, the leading peer-based video game event celebrating the industry's top games and developers.
I thought exactly the same thing. Though, i'd kick my own ass if it ever occurred to me to use a picture of Obama to illustrate it. Especially since "this is a joke, right" is exactly what i think every time Obama speaks.
Far Cry 3 (Ubisoft Montreal/Ubisoft) PlanetSide 2 (Sony Online Entertainment) Halo 4 (343 Industries/Microsoft Studios) Call of Duty: Black Ops II (Treyarch/Activision) Assassin's Creed III (Ubisoft Montreal/Ubisoft)
There is no chance for BLOPS2 to win, and if it does then the award has been rigged. A god knows how many years old overly used engine cannot beat these newer games that have far more technolgically advanced engines.
Based on those choices I would expect Planetside 2 to win, easily. I played it briefly and its not really my thing but even though it doesn't appeal to me the sheer scope and scale of what they have achieved is pretty spectacular.
Well, it definitely won't win as other game engines in this list do much more impressive stuff technologically wise (Halo 4 and AC3 especially), but it did make a big technological leap with regards to the lighting engine - all while keeping the 60FPS target render. How many other shooters managed to pull 60FPS on consoles this gen? I recall only Rage, which was also very impressive but had to make other sacrifices.
Please recall that this award is given by industry professionals - it's all about *tech* and has nothing to do with how much recycled the game design is or how many fanboys cry in veins.
"it's all about *tech* and has nothing to do with how much recycled the game design is or how many fanboys cry in veins."
Yes I agree its about the tech, but the 'COD' engine has been around for years and has seen very little improvements over the years, I don't see how anybody could choose it over any of the other games listed here.
Well not really 2000 on screen at once. Their divided between three continents but nonetheless yeah, several times I've asked myself how the game handles the sheer madness on screen.
Yesterday, there was a 30 minute siege on one of the bio labs on the server I am on and the landing pad was just full of people. I didn't even know what to do. Plus there were ships crashing into players going kamikaze, tanks firing shells....it was absolutely mental.
ohh wait i think i know what he meant. It's the best tech for noobs who like to ambush people by hiding in corners, and for using auto aim like its a real skill.
I think Black Ops 2 deserves this nomination for best technology. It's a technical feat of programming to simulate an online game that lags 300ms at all times.
I don't think it will win the award but I do see why the game sells in its millions. It is not the best looking FPS game out there but when there are a few of you playing MP it is a fun game to play. I would rather play Halo over COD but I have it on the WiiU and I have to say I enjoy the game. Ive not had a COD game sine MW1 but I do find it a fun game to pickup and play but I could not buy the game every year.
.
Maybe they got the award wrong. Maybe its for most Overly-used Tech?
lolwut?
Um...I'll just leave this here--> http://www.troll.me/images/...
