Metal Gear Rising Revengeance: 10 Reasons It Won’t Live Up To The Hype

WC: Along with the Dead Space 3 demo dropping yesterday (of which you can read my appraisal here), the long-awaited first chance for players to take a crack at Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance materialised in the form of a brief demo. I’ll admit to having been sceptical about the project ever since it was first announced, and must confess that this demo has done little to allay my fears that it won’t live up to the hype typically associated with a game bearing “Metal Gear” anywhere in the title.

Though not the unmitigated disaster many expected, Revengeance feels utterly piecemeal, though of course, there’s only so much we can glean from this half-hour demo, almost half of which is comprised of cut-scenes. Of course, we expect the final product will be a little more polished (and not feature the same garish, horrendously compressed videos), but it still doesn’t leave a particularly strong impression.

Nevertheless, here are 10 reasons why Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance won’t live up to the hype. (Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, PS3, Xbox 360)

When you discover the insane depths of parrying, ninja time and the light, heavy attacks.
You realize how masterful the game has the potential to be. I've played the demo for a couple hours (gaf helped)

Day 1 purchase.

It wont live up to the hype, yet apparently many expected it to be an unmitigated disaster????
I've only heard good things tbh, but this is a confused message, thus I did not read.

So he's complaining about the camera controls in "cut mode" when you can just switch them in the options menu. Complains about parrying because he wants an easy block button. Complains about no stealth when it's CLEARLY an action game.

I'll give him the AI thing because it is pretty dumb i can literally stealth kill (but i thought this game had no stealth) a guy right next to someone and the other one wouldnt notice. But he really thinks P* is the number one reason why this game will fail? The reason an ACTION GAME will fail is because its being developed by P*? -_-

I will wait for it to be reviewed...the whole game. its a hard game to judge from a demo. It did prove what it neede to, that is has the potential to be really good.

Eventhough the demo is short I love it. I've played it like 8 times now. S* baby
