TL;DR: Are Cutscenes Counterintuitive to Games?

Once activities are repeated enough and find their way into the routine of life, they become customs. Customs agreed upon by communities are then passed down through generations and become traditions. Traditions in turn find their way into the present day and are unquestionably grandfathered in simply because “that’s just the way it is.” Buying a freshly cut Christmas tree. The Lambeau Leap. The expression that “boys will be boys.” All of these are examples of things that need to change as society evolves. (Culture, Dev, God of War Collection, God of War: Ascension, Industry)

A game is whatever a developer wants it to be, whether that developer is KojiPro, Quantic Dream, Irrational or Rockstar. People have tastes specific to their output, so no - cutscenes have their place and many of us enjoy them and have enjoyed them for years and will continue to enjoy them.

counterintuitive? not really, but i really do really enjoy when the story unfolds during gameplay, like dead space or bioshock.

I think cutscenes are kind of lost due to in game graphics being so good. Used to be the game was great but the cut scenes gave you this (what it REALLY looks like) and it let your imagination run wild with creativity while you played it. Now its like this looks like this in game and nothing else. I am not knocking by any means. just what well least to me what cut scenes meant.
