zConnection: Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch (PS3) Review

Connor Beaton writes: "Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch has all the makings of a cult classic. It’s a gorgeous and fun role-playing game that will appeal the most to long-term fans of the genre, despite its refreshing take on the JRPG structure. It also marries two significant parts of Japanese pop culture by virtue of the collaboration between developer Level-5 and acclaimed animation company Studio Ghibli; it almost seamlessly blends characteristics of anime and video games not only in visual appearance, but in its storytelling too. As a result, it stands apart from other games in the genre, even before you begin to look closer at its enjoyable, vast gameplay." (Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, PS3) 88/100

I have about 40 hours in and what a game. Chapter 6 is a beast of Its own. So far I think the game is a 9.

I've read so many reviews and so many comments about this game that I think this is the best game I've ever played ... and I haven't got it yet.

I don't think most reviews scratch the surface of how this game can truly get. For those waiting in Europe for the game to be released, it is well worth it. The ending and I don't mean the subtitle ending makes the story progression worth it. IMO

I, also advise those to work on their stamp collection, by doing task as early as possible. The gains you get from doing them and handing them in is worth it after you get to the second and third tier. The task is one way to drift away from the main story, level up and earn some extra benefits in the game.

Don't sell ingredients or provisions, they come in handy with some tasks in the game. Learn to switch characters and make use of Swaine. He can get you some nice items when you use him to steal items from bosses. They are worth a good amount of money when you sell them and don't want to use them.

Most important thing, pay attention to the story. Learn how things develop and gets interesting. How things are connected or not...

I want to say more, but I feel like I'm going to spoil something. There is so much to talk about. I hope those that got the game or waiting will find it worth the 60 dollars as I did.
