Capcom’s Sorry Dark Arisen Is A Full Game, But Dragon Dogma Owners Will Get Stuff

Gamesta.com reports on Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. The expansion will not be available without the full game, despite attempts to make it so for original owners. Capcom said they're sorry, but they want consumers to know they've packed in some goodies for those that already own the original Dragon's Dogma.

Or just Capcom Standard Operating Procedure...

@Viper7:
No. Mean that they've been doing this since the arcade days with Street Fighter II: Hyper/ultra/mega/SD/Super edition. Megaman Network for the gameboy was literally being shoved out on a monthly basis.

It doesn't matter that the industry in general has adopted DLC as a method to prolong a single game's life, Capcom will

:D McGee Urban Dictionary to the rescue

Viper74109d ago

Yeah, the do this with pretty much every monster hunter game.

"Capcom’s Sorry Dark Arisen Is A Full Game, But Dragon Dogma Owners Will Get Stuff"

What?

iamnsuperman4109d ago

I agree something smells fishy here but I guess they are giving content to those affected (I haven't played Dragon's Dogma so I have no idea if it is useful)

Daavpuke4109d ago

I think it's more a justification than anything else. Perhaps they could've just called it a GOTY edition or something, but then people would still ask for the exclusive content to be available separately. Sucks people that own Dragon's Dogma are basically paying for additional currency and stuff, but it's something, I guess.

Baka-akaB4109d ago

I dont care , DG is the one capcom game that is worth going through their shenanigans

Servbot4109d ago

I have to strongly disagree here. I really enjoyed Dragon's Dogma, but Capcom asking $40 for what will more than likely amount to $10 worth of DLC is ludicrous. People like us who supported this new IP are getting blatantly ripped off. I won't tell you not to buy it, but I hope you realize that you're encouraging them to do the same thing for future releases.

Godmars2904109d ago

Except they keep doing crap like this, because gamers such as yourself give them a pass on occasion.

MagneticDeath4109d ago

Game looked real cool but never got around to getting it so I will be picking it up, sucks for those who already bought the game at launch. Way to screw the people who supported your new IP.

You Can Now Get The First Dragon's Dogma For Less Than $5 Before The Sequel Arrives

Ahead of Dragon's Dogma 2's global release, the first iteration in the series by Capcom has been discounted by 84% on Steam.

sushimama42d ago

If anyone is wondering the first one still holds up well to this day. It's fun

Grandia, Klonoa, and Parappa... NICE!

MrBaskerville161d ago (Edited 161d ago )

Grandia is especially nice, as I don't think it's available on psn atm. Wonder if it's a psx port or the Switch version.

If they didn't despise ps2, they could have added Grandia 2-3 as well.

shinoff2183161d ago

It's not a despise. Far as I've read their working on better emulation. It'll come.

LG_Fox_Brazil162d ago

GRANDIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Fckn love that game

StormSnooper161d ago

Is it good? I never played that.

crazyCoconuts162d ago

Been thinking of getting Teardown on Steam for Steam Deck play. Heard a lot of great reviews for it.

MrBeatdown161d ago

Played the first half hour last night. All I did was wreck a building but what a blast.

Elda161d ago

Nothing of interest for me. My sub is up in 2 weeks & I'll go with Essentials only for cloud saves & online. Having Extra or Premium is a waste for me seeing most games that land on the service are old that I've played already or old games I never had any interest in playing.

crazyCoconuts161d ago

Respect your opinion, just pointing out that Teardown is a Day One Extra release for PS, not an old game in this case. Gotham Knights last month was a year old.

Elda161d ago

I have no interest in Teardown. I bought & played Gotham Knights when it was first released in October 2022. Every month I'm always buying the latest AAA or AA games when they first release to play on my PS5, the very reason why Extra & Premium is a waste of money for me.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Alternatives – 7 Top Games Like Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate is a name synonymous with party-based fantasy RPG games. There’s still a stretch of time until the third instalment finally leaves early access. While you’re waiting for the gates to open and welcome you to Forgotten Realms, you might be looking for similar games to ease the wait.

anast286d ago

Some good games on that list.

FalcorMononoke286d ago (Edited 286d ago )

In my personal opinion, Divinity Original Sin 2 is better than any of the Baldur's Gate games.

Becuzisaid286d ago

Are you including BG3 in that comparison? Or just the first 2? The first 2 are tough to get into now, and I never liked the ad&d rules. The 5e rules are much easier to grasp. But BG3 seems to be just DOS2 but times 10. Haven't played it in early access at all, just going by what I see online.

Nittdarko286d ago

hilarious because the game that is most like BG3 and a game every DND fan should try is Solasta and its not even on this list
