OnlySP writes: Sigh, today’s a rather gloomy day in the gaming industry. Long time publisher THQ has been shut down, its assets sold and auctioned off to all new publishers, but one, one very important developer was left behind to die with THQ. Vigil Games.
i will be happy with both
I think the sort of expertise Vigil can bring to the table will in fact expand Sony's American division as opposed to Vigil being eaten up.
I guess this is one of them moments in life that just sucks. I was really hoping for someone to pick up the Darksiders IP from THQ...even if that someone were EA.
I loved the first Darksiders (War was awesomely badass) and hoped for a sequel. Darksiders 2 came along and it was also awesome...can I hope for a third one...please??
It should be available to all.
Personally i liked the first game better, because i didn't like some of the features DS2 had.
I'd rather have Darksiders remaing single player instead.
You mean instead of being fired? Yeah, Im gonna just leave this here.

i said it before and i will say it again VG working alongside SM studio who do God of war games could be a killer idea
none of the THQ IP's really went for what i thought they would go for, everything was sold pretty cheaply and that's why i am surprised to see neither EA or activision have any part in the auction.
also Capcom could bought few
i think VG will be sold pretty quick too maybe within next 48-72 hrs. no inside news just the feeling i have as a gamer
I know Darksiders is not Zelda but it could satiate some of the maturer fans during the long waits for New Zelda.
It would also give Nintendo a God of War style game.
Bubble-up "Funny"
I guess it's like me liking and "hating" Sony for having the sense to buy Quantic Dream.
But Better that then have another good gaming company die.
If Sony and Microsoft pick-up Darksiders I would both respect and "hate" it, but I would rather Nintendo do it.
-And I am happy either as a Nintendo Exclusive or Port-
But better it be an exclusive (for some console) than non-existent.

I would've thought that this series would be a good fit for Warner Brothers as the series is large and deep enough to also become a series of movies.
RIP Vigil.
theres no point keeping such a great series exclusive to a platform.
This fake ass gamer played & finished the 1st one FAST, he raved about it to anyone who would listen. I mean, it is one of the few PS3 games he's not only played, but finished (I think Unchartered 1 & 2 are THE ONLY others,.....he only has 4-5 games, & by far Darksiders is the only game I've heard him carry on about since DMC on PS2. He seriously hasn't really shown any excitement for ANY game, but Darksiders since the PS2 classic forementioned, yet, the sequel drops & he still doesn't have the damn thing.
I'm more of a GOW fan, as I find the polish, overall design, story, graphics, gameplay, action setpieces, & pretty much every aspect of Sony's franchise kicks all other similar genres a$$es, but I really like Darksiders also, as I'm a serious gamer & I support EVERY developer I like, from the day they release there titles, & also any games that take my interest from any developer, if the game is decent to great. I find it funny that the self proclaimed, hugest Darksiders fan, fails the games developers by not supporting there game on day 1.....hell, he doesn't buy F.A. games anyway, I have hundreds, & really could, no should, stop buying further games & finish some of the hundreds I've already got, yet, I bought Darksiders 2 on day 1......& every great game since.
And to make matters worse, my mate is a huge nerd for anything SciFi, & I have told him & told him about the ME series & how awesome the story & overall game is (& I'm not a HUGE SciFi fan, I mean, Predator, Aliens, Total Recall, Terminator, & such are some of my most favorite films of all time, but I don't go gaga for SciFi stuff, as evidenced by my disdain for Cameron's overated crap with the huge budget & oversized smurfs) but my mate has all the Stargate series & loves that D grade crap, yep, he claims he's big for Sci Fi, yet he hasn't even heard of the Mass Effect series, let alone knows how great it is.
I mean, it's frustrating, as he is a prime example of what is wrong with casuals, as he won't even support a developer he rates as the best this gen. has had to offer, & he, along with other casuals that are too scared to give something other than Fifa, Madden or COD a try, have helped send these poor bastards broke & jobless.
As I've said in many-er posts before, casual fools ensure the success of games like 50cent:Bulletproof, while actual good games, like Ico, SOTC, BG&E, Psychonauts, Okami & plenty more, are ignored & avoided by moronic casuals, like the plague. Sad, sad world we live.
@black911, as unlikely as that is, it would be a dream come true for Vigil to get another chance, & be teamed up with one of the best developers going in Santa Monica, as they would learn about polish & have far bigger budgets & production values, & I truly believe it would be awesome for both teams, & for future GOW's & Darksiders, as Vigil could help Santa Monica add certain elements, such as clever puzzles to name 1, & vice versa.
It would be awesome to see Darksiders 3 on PS Orbis, under the Sony label, & with good marketing, as well as Darksiders 1&2 included on the disk (with next gen visual enhancements), wow, that would be a dream come true. Especially knowing that Darksiders 3 had Santa Monica's input, to improve the fundamentals, such as combat, level design, character design (as Darksiders biggest fault was the poor enemy design, as none really stand out & stick in your mind after you've finished the game, whereas, GOW has awesome enemy design).
Nice dream, but obviously too late, all over & R.I.P. Vigil.
I mean Crytek got Homefront for 500k, and Ubisoft got one of their low ball bids through at THQ Montreal for a few million.
Turtle Rock was in the running for their own game at 200k so why didn't Vigil bid on themselves to bring it elsewhere? EA and WB showed interest, but left with nothing, not even a bid on a marketable game?
It just doesn't make sense to me. A lot of smaller assets THQ has went no where, but Darksiders can still expand and do something.... maybe because it wasn't a copy and paste FPS....
