Kitase: Final Fantasy XIII-2 DLC Story Episodes Disappointed Players

GamingUnion.net: "Following the release of Final Fantasy XIII-2, Square Enix created many different types of downloadable content to expand the experience. At first, this focussed on cosmetic changes, but it didn't remain the case for long." (Final Fantasy XIII-2, PS3, Xbox 360)

The way they were talking about it before release was each person would get their own story like what they were doing when Sarah and Noal were travelling through time.

All we got was a gambling minigame and monsters to fight.
Root  +   738d ago
That my friend is how they big something up to sucker you into buying the game

They're doing the same with Lightning Returns
Lucreto  +   738d ago
I didn't buy the dlc luckily but I will be getting Lightning returns. I got the platinum for both games so I might as well make it 3.

@lucreto
And that, my friend, is why we will be introduced with a FFXlll-4

Also Snow and lightning dlc.

@Root u make no sense. If you don't like the dlc the person doesn't need to buy it. And u make it sound like Square-enix is the only company to do this.

Almost every company does this.

The monsters u fought were enjoyable but I gave up on gilgamesh because he is the hardest FF character I ever fought.

Sazh minigame was stupid and Snows really didn't have a story to it.

Lightnings dlc was short but it was enjoyable with how the gameplay changed a little.

And there was to much costumes. But thats another way for comapanys to make money. Games cost so much money to make that dlc is a great way to make extra money. Its only there for people to want it. If u don't like it don't buy it.

I don't mind dlc because it helps developers stay alive. This generation we seen to many studios shutdown. To make money off a game compared to ps2 days they have to triple or even quadruple the amount to get money back. If I enjoyed the game I don't mind paying for some dlc to support developers.

Thats why u don't see much new IP's this generation because there scared to release it. One fail game no one buys that is actually great game can shut a company down.

Right...whatever you say princess

So do you ever buy any dlc? Or do u complain about every game that comes out with it and never buy it. Because alot of games like to whore out dlc. U make it sound like square-enix is the only one.

And doesn't every company try to sucker someone to buy a game? Its called marketing.

And its not going to sucker old fans to buy LRFF13. The ones that hated ff13 and 13-2 I garrented aren't going to buy the 3rd one. The ones that are going to buy it is the ones that loved the games.

So don't put me as in the category as someone suckered to buy this game. I'm buying it because I loved ff13 and 13-2.

Quote from the article

"Also not ending the story with the episodes really disappointed players."

Umm...no, not ending the story on the $60 game disc disappointed the players.

I mean if they were setting it up as a series of games, like say a trilogy like Mass Effect or Xenosaga, then sure "To Be Continued" makes sense, although it was pretty weak even as a cliff-hanger. It's a shame because I liked this game, but not gonna pay to see the ending even if they offered it.

The only thing that disappointed me about them was they added nothing to the story. Even the lightning "so called end of the story" added nothing but a battle that repeats over and over. The story was complete from start to finish. Anyone who actually played and got the secret ending would know this. Speaking of secret ending, that was great and that speech is what makes The villain great.

OMG! I hope they are not thinking of putting the ending of Lightning Return in a DLC.
CatXFlash  +   738d ago
They were... not anymore do. To Sqeenix all they see is numbers like the man stated they noticed that the fans did not buy the endings as much as they buy the suits so that talks to them... and tells them there is no money in episode DLC so they wont bother with it... you see.. if you stop buying BS they will stop putting it out.

For me it was the fact that the Lightning ending was not included in the game that was crazy and the fact that we could not play with her since SHE IS ON THE COVER! why did they not put Noel and Serah on the cover instead.

i guess that´s why many people didn't bought the game in the first place /s

Most of the people I know who like to defend this prolonged FFXIII games say that there are plot-holes and cliffhangers to fill and end that FFXIII-2 and Lightning Returns are very much needed. I just hope people don't get too comfortable by this since SE can shove as many XIII-2s and "Returns" in the future.

Now if FF15 actually becomes a great game, -2s and "Returns" would be justified and okay.
KShinigami  +   738d ago
Why do SE keep on insisting on 13 games when the first was one of the most disappointing FF games? And what's happening with versus?
N4GDgAPc  +   737d ago
Why they made 13-2? I don't know why but good for me because I loved it. And after 13-2 ended the way it did 13-3 was inevitable. Can't end it like it did and not expect 13-3.

I know alot of FF fans are in out rage but I'm getting 2 great games in the future. LRFF13 and FFvs13. More games to enjoy for me^^

They didn't make 13-3 for 13-2's ending. They made the 13-2 ending for 13-3.
