Numbers for AMD's performance in 2012 are out and it doesn't look good. Hopefully things will pick up for AMD as their processors will probably be included in next-gen consoles from Sony/Microsoft.
AMD is getting crushed in the cpu and gpu market
If Amd doesnt come out with some drastically revised architectures in both the gpu and cpu and apu markets I can see them falling off. However their saving grace for the moment is the fact that their hardware sells for roughly 50% that of the competitors. In the entry level market Amd has the price point nailed but ,their performance numbers leave intel and nvidia free to gouge pricing as they certainly have been for the last few years straight. edit: whats worse is that amd used to spank the shit out of intel and nvidia in the early 00's ... oh how the mighty have fallen.
How much are AMD worth out of interest?
Very bad for the industry if AMD goes under for the fact that nvidia and intel will have monopoly's on their respective market.
I agree, the prices would be high as hell plus Intel and Nvidia could get lazy when it comes to hardware features and specs..That's coming from a person who buys Intel and Nvidia.
I wonder how Nvidia is doing in the graphics department? Just as a comparison. I realize AMD operates both sides of the market with the CPU and GPU, but it would be interesting to see if as a whole the Graphics market is down and it's not just AMD.
it was a sad day when AMD bought the very successful ATI. now we ati fans hope that amd won't drag ati down with them.
BUT AMD is probably in the "next gen" consoles... Surely that will help
I guess people haven't seen the new world record for the fastest personal computer, funny how they didn't use an intel processor for this either. They aren't doing that bad to me when people are shattering records with their processors but yea money rules the world so I guess that won't matter. 8.79GHz AMD FX-8350 (Eight Core) Is The Fastest Ever CPU. http://rog.asus.com/1957820... Sucks AMD is doing badly but the professionals know where it's at. I have used AMD processors most my life simply because they are far more reliable, I think that world record speaks for exactly just how reliable they are. Those guys on ROG are insane with their computers. Pure geniuses when it comes to building PC and overclocking them. Another important factor is AMD processors are much more affordable.
