it was much better on SNES as a slasher side scrolling game. this generation ruined it with cut throat slashing, blood spew all over the place.

illuminati controlling changes everything from innocent hack'em slash'em ninja's to blood thirsty ninja's

I agree that the old Nes versions were awesome (the original Nes versions were actual superior to the Snes remakes) but the new games are definitely not ruined because they are graphic.
There is a strange correlation between the original 3 2D Ninja Gaidens and the more current 3 3D Ninja Gaidens. Ninja Gaiden 1 on both the Nes and Xbox were instant classics featuring innovative, tight and challenging gameplay ahead of there time. The 2nd Ninja Gaidens added new features and enhancements but just fell short of there predecessors. Also both Ninja Gaiden 3 for Nes and Wii U really pushed the games further technically and are still awesome in there own right but definitely not the game changers like there inceptions were.
History repeats.

The NG pros like this game way more than vanilla NG3. UTs are back, guillotine throw, more ninpo, more techniques, more weapons, more characters to play as. I just wish I had the Wii U and the game to play it instead of watching Master Ninja runs of this game.

I liked this version a lot more. They axed out a number of bad design choices and refined the gameplay quite a bit. Played online multiplayer with a couple of my friends and it was hectic and fun as it should be.

By all means its far from perfect, but I thought it was pretty good overall and fantastic compared to the original version. If you have a Wii U and have any interest in NG, you should at least check it out.
