Dear Gamer, You miss the good stuff because you’re scared and lazy

Nice article about the virtues of forcing yourself to play games you don't like, or have never heard of. (Culture)

Games are meant to be entertainment, and as such if a game isn't entertaining to you, why play it? I don't care if millions of people like Halo. I don't, so I don't play it. I don't care if millions of people like Twisted Metal. I don't, so I don't play it.

Why waste time playing games you don't like?

it'd be different if it was, say ten bucks like a movie ticket.

but this is a significant amount of cash, too much to risk in my opinion.

Forget the cash invested (although you do make a valid point).

What about time? I don't have all the time in the world. I have a family, a social life, a job, and non-gaming hobbies that I enjoy. When I sit down to play a game, I'd kinda like to play a game that I LIKE. Why in the world would I waste my time playing games that I don't enjoy? Sure, I'm all about finding that "diamond in the rough" or giving certain games a chance even if I don't think I'll like them, but to go out of your way to spend time on games you don't like seems....dumb.

Go ahead and label me "scared and lazy" like the author's title. I don't mind.

Isn't this more about hidden gems that sometimes get ignored by the bigger games and those with more marketing?

So the solution to being lazy is buy random cheap games at a pre-owned store? Good lord, has he never heard of this hip platform called steam? A platform that gives games with without a multi-million dollar advertisement scheme?

I play a large variety of games. There are people out there that only play one game. I respect those people and they don't need to be lectured. They know what they like.

If I could give you more than one Bubble+, I would.

I agree with the sentiment of what he's trying to say. I think people do need to take more risks with their game purchses sometimes - it's healthy for the industry for people to be a little more open minded...
