Earthbound coming to Wii U?

Luke Halliday writes:

"The lights are on bright tonight for Nintendo’s Wii U Direct conference where they promise to announce new Wii U titles along with provide details on previously announced titles. As is usually the case with such conferences, hype is already building across the gaming community with speculation reaching boiling point. Following the hype and clues left behind by developers can be somewhat eye-opening.

One developer, Monolith Soft have been burning a quiet revolution by giving away hint after hint at a potential Wii U title and all signs point to Earthbound" (Earthbound, Wii U)

Hard to tell

This is a win if they do this. I love the original Earthbound and for ages wish they would bring a truly amazing RPG to the console. Please be true. This would be a savior of the JRPG alongside Ni No Kuni and a reason I will get a Wii U.

Akuma- have you been reading all the other posts in here? How many people want this game or would buy a Wii U for it. Regardless if they are NES fanatics or not, that is a bunch of extra sales that will only help Nintendo.

I, for one, welcome this game with open arms. Earthbound on the SNES was such an amazing game, I had no clue what I was getting into when I first started it up. I thought it was going to be some kids game, but boy I was wrong. It was not the first time, I might add, as I laughed at Super Mario RPG before I actually gave it a go.

It'd not be a system seller except in Japan, unless that's what you meant...

No one needs to kid themselves if they know the Mother Series history with Nintendo of America, the sales were bad, are bad(In NA) and Nintendos marketing for Earthbound was horrible. Reggie and the NA team just barely care for it so there'd be no hope for us overseas unless they have it with English and we can import the game from Japan orrrr....idunno.... either way, Mother series as a whole, is one of the best RPG's ever made to date, but they just aren't the type to sell well except in Japan-standards. (Exception being Pokemon which sells over 9000 Billion copies worldwide)

Just, Mother series doesn't have a solid fanbase in NA. It has a massive cult following, but it'd not be anything over 200K in NA sales unless the game(s) were massively marketed.

Wait........ You mean God was listening ?

Even if it isn't Earthbound , After Xenoblade chronicles , it's hard to imagine what Monolith Soft could do with the wiiu hardware....

Earthbound for Wii U? Why would you want to ruin Earthbound?
animegamingnerd  +   639d ago
why do you not want another earthbound/mother
kirbyu  +   638d ago
How would it be ruining it? It would just be a port of the original game? Why do people think the game is being ruined when their favorite game is ported to a console they don't like?

Oh. My. God.

Seriously. Mistwalker and Monolith Soft are the reasons to own a Wii or Wii U.

Its sounds to good to be true us players keep getting crap after crap after crap. I will believe it when I see it wont get my hopes up one bit I am going to watch it live but I wont think of anything before watching it just in case and will be ready for the worst.
discordman  +   639d ago
I think you need to actually be more gracious of what we have been given. Look at March's releases. There is plenty coming out, and that should be enough to hold us over until whatever this is finally hits shelves.

That's the kind of must have title that's going to propel the WiiU to number one this generation. I've conjectured a 3ds triology but I can't believe a game this gigantic could be announced so early in the Wii U's life cycle. This is going to be an insane first year for the Wii U. E3 is going to be Nintendo granting every fan their every wish.
Y_5150  +   639d ago
Gee, is Earthbound really this good? Then I shall look into the series. I only know the series since Super Smash Bros Melee, I had the first smash bros. but it took me years (for no real reason) to unlock Ness. :P

Thats one thing the Wii U is lacking they no RPG games whatever Monolith Soft is working on would be great for the Wii U
YoungPlex  +   639d ago
Oh man, if this is true I, I, I don't know what I would do.... I don't want to get my hopes up but damn please be true!
LinkageAX  +   639d ago
As a serious comment, I think a new Mother game would be great.
koga88  +   639d ago
Man this would be great if they did end up making some sort of Earthbound for the Wii U, even if it was just a collection of the already released games. Biggest question is, will it ever be released in the West?
Chrono  +   639d ago
I'd insta-buy a Wii U if that's real.
